yes have used LMA inhouse researcher,,,,,back in 1990 its was £5-50 ***per hour**,,,,,then by 1996 went to about £18,,,,now it must be about £20--25 same as most, as I paid that just before christmas,,this is all per hour..........! |

Catholic orphanage records are difficult. The day to day records so as to speak have all the children numbered eg 112,113 114 and so on. 112 may be called, say, Catherine, and so on. Thus the staff had no idea of the true name, neither did the child. There is another book which translates (say) Catherine into Marie o'Rourke. This book often has the names of the mother, rarely father and/or the presenting people. Quite often no name was known. The orphanage often holds records of the children when they started working. |

Its only 1861 that im interested in, but thanks for that. There just seems to be a determined effort to resist any enquries. Its not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it makes me more determined to find what im looking for, :-) |

I think there are only a limited number of parish records available because they do not agree with the 're-baptism of souls' agenda - as set by the familysearch site. |
