There's a lot to this case, I remember bits and pieces, from way back but then it was considered very unlikely that a dingo would have done it, but since then there have been incidents of dingo attacks that contradict the earlier opinions.

I think in this case like many others, mentioning no names lol, the couple came across as a bit 'odd' and that put even more doubt in people's minds?

"Since the Chamberlain case, proven cases of attacks on humans by dingoes have brought about a dramatic change in public opinion. It is now widely accepted that, as the first inquest concluded, Azaria probably was killed by a dingo and that her body could easily have been removed and eaten by a dingo, leaving little or no trace.

Crucial to the change in public opinion was a string of dingo attacks during the late 1990s on Fraser Island off the Queensland coast, the last refuge in Australia for isolated pure-breed wild dingoes. In the wake of these attacks, it emerged that there had been at least 400 documented dingo attacks on Fraser Island alone. Most were against children, but at least two were on adults.[26]

In April 1998, in a scenario strikingly similar to the story told by Lindy Chamberlain, a 13-month old girl was grabbed by a dingo and dragged from a picnic blanket at the Waddy Point camping area. In this case, the child was dropped when her father intervened."

It was a dingo. The media caused a great deal of trouble over this case in the '80's. The clothing found later was ripped and did have some blood stains. The bloodstains supposedly found in the car wasn't blood but a protective spray coating on the leather of the dashboard. They came across as cold and they are members of the Seventh Day Adventists so were seen to be 'strange'. All this was put into the minds of the public. Lindy Chamberlain is a rather odd woman even now but I don't believe she killed her baby.

morning Sue, its nice to get your veiw, being from that country x

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 24 Feb 2012 21:14

Hi Stray :-) Lindy and Michael Chamberlain were pardoned so they are legally innocent. A missing tourist was found in a dingo lair and that is where they found Azaria's little jacket. It supported Lindy's story about a dingo. However it changed their lives forever. They were divorced and Lindy missed a good deal of her children's lives.

Genuine question....

Did they ever send in the cadaver/blood dogs to see if they scented anything in the area in which the poor little one went missing? x

There is a lot to look through here including the original forensics and the retrial etc
