GlitterBaby Report 18 Jan 2012 19:46

Would cost me a lot more to get there than the price of the ticket.

It would be nice if sometimes the people (not GR) who organise events like this remembered that not all of us have the dosh, capability or the desire to visit London.

What about the NEC Birmingham/Solihull or maybe somewhere even further north than us lot? Mind you, it's not that many years ago when I listened to one London event organiser being asked a similar question and he said 'I don't want to organise events in the sticks'.

:-P

I'd love to meet up but it just isn't possible.

Maybe GR could get together with some other organisations and set something up for us north-of-The-Watford-Gap-ag-lab types
:-D

"For those of you who cannot make the Who Do You Think You Are Show in London, we have plenty of other events coming up in a range of locations all over the country, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements."

Sorry, can't help with the ag lab bit because I don't know what you are implying :-)

Rival groups Joy? :-S

I cam remember GR were supposed to have a stall at the York Racecourse History fair..
This is a really gig fair and quite a few of us met up.but where was GR's Stall..we asked a couple of Stall holders and they said that GR hadn't bothered turning up..
That was 2 years running..

So don't expect them to turn up North of Watford Gap..

Hi Sue - I can assure you we were at the York Family History fair last year, we were on the second floor with a great view of the race course! It was the first time we had ever booked a spot at the York fair, so I think whoever you spoke to must have misunderstood.

We will be there again this year but not sure of our location yet so I will make sure there are signs up at the entrance so people know where we are.

Hopefully see you there!

Katie, it would be appreciated if you or other members of staff would respond on the suggestions board. Thank you.

I too was puzzled by the 'rival groups' Joy. Are there any these days? :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Jan 2012 12:36

Oh and north of the Watford Gap wouldn't help us lot in the West/South Midlands/South West/Wales It is extremely expensive to get to London from any of these places.

Who out of any of us could reach the second floor of anywhere ?
What a daft place to have a stall !

Island

Island Report 19 Jan 2012 13:23

I can. Sorry.

I've said I'm up for going (and willing to ask questions) if anyone wants to come with me (it appears to be £25 for two) but I have been ignored in favour of negativity.

Julia Report 19 Jan 2012 13:33

Island, Hiya, I would be up for your very kind offer, but it would not be financially viable for me, amongst other things. What with train fares, modest hotel, cost of ticket, on the day expenses, and something new to wear, 'cause I do not have anything in the wardrobe suitable to wear LOL, it would be rather expensive, and as I mentioned to Dizzi on her other thread, I could go for a long weekend in a luxury hotel, for two for what it would cost, for me.
I also have to take into consideration me bowels.LOL. I would hate to have a session of those, whilst in London.
But, all joking aside, it is a wonderful offer on your behalf, to 'chum-up' with someone in a better position than myself, who would also like to go.
If you go, I hope you enjoy yourself.

Julia, surely with your conections in the Mafioso you could get in free,( A little bit of leaning on people ) as for your (Ahem) Bowels. it would certainly clear the traffic out of the way. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-S
