Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 6 Sep 2011 04:46

so won't be online from this Thursday, until the evening of 23rd September.

As this was all a bit of a last minute booking, we couldn't find the sort of accommodation we needed where there were good reviews so ended up booking flights separately (very expensive) and then booking directly with the Blue Gardens at Roda, where we stayed in 2009. They don't use Thos Cook anymore as they were fed up with them giving incorrect booking info etc and landing people on them unexpectedly etc. I would have preferred to visit somewhere new, another Greek island or where ever, but there was very little choice especially from our local airport.

It will be good to go to somewhere we know will be clean and comfortable, and as it's a small family run complex, Elena recognised our names and has even put us in the same maisonette apartment that we had last time, away from the pool and bar and close to the greenhouses where they grow a lot of produce to use in the small restaurant. We will look out on to the olive trees that form part of the complex, it was her father-in-law's business till he handed it over and let them build around 14 maisonettes and apartments etc and he still visits most days to help out cutting the lawns, tending the greenhouses etc Elena's father comes over from Cyprus to help out in the bar and spend time with his daughter and granddaughter, who is now about 7 I think.

As we also already know the restaurants and tavernas in the nearby village we will feel quite at home and can do some of the day trips we didn't manage last time, like Corfu town and others and the rest of the time can relax and enjoy the sun (better not rain lol)

Am getting a bit stressed about packing as some of you might remember I got carried away last time and ended up with excess baggage charges, which altho I didn't bring anything home and had used things while away, I was charged for more excess baggage at Corfu airport on the way back. Didn't get anywhere with complaining so will make sure they have no excuse to rip me off this time but I do wish o.h. had listened in the summer when I showed him mens clothes reduced in the shops, he has now decided a lot of his things are too big cos he's been losing weight to help his diabetes and bp and now the sales are over and there's no time or chance to get out shopping.
Oh well, his loss, he does this every year so I should be used to him. I have some nice new lightweight things to wear as I have been shopping at the new Sainsbury's clothing dept in our local store, got shorts for £2.70 and lots of nice things for absolute peanuts. Well I can't turn up to the same place wearing the same clothes as two years ago, can I lol?

I do have several pms and mails still to respond to, and I may not get round to answering so please forgive me and know I have appreciated the support and contact over the past weeks especially.

Will try and catch up a bit over the next couple of nights.

Lizx

I hope you have a great holiday Liz. I will be off to the Chatham Islands on the 29th with my sis and her OH. It is a 'guided' trip, for the forge-me-not festival. They have lots of large herbal flowers, including the Chatham Is f-m-n. I am looking forward to taking lots of photographs to put on my blogspot, I hope.

'See you later'.

Huia.

Thanks folks, it will be good to sleep at night again lol and be out and about during the day, mind you, I know I will be shattered on Saturday, it's the way fibromyalgia gets you, do too much and the next day you are cream crackered lol

Not to worry, can wander to the supermarket and get stocked up and then be lazy for the rest of the day, don't even need to go out of the complex as I am sure Elena will be doing meals on Saturday evening, and probably roast dinners on Sunday too lol

Huia, hope you have a lovely time with your rellies

Jean, sorry you had to cancel your holiday but hope you can have a break sometime soon

Joyce, sorry meant to text you back and have a chat but o.h. came in sooner than I thought from his shopping trip - optician and supermarket, nothing more exciting, then he forgot the bread for his sarnies at work so he had to go back again lol

Caz, haven't called cos you needed to rest but will catch up after my holiday.

Jules, hope the carpets look as good as you hoped.

Nearly finished the packing, had to do o.h.'s as well as he hadn't put his shoes in, he is hopeless. Every time I say put your shoes in around the sides and pack inside the space but he never remembers. Had to leave the dinner I was cooking to do it and then dinner was late. He is going in to work for a few hours, so will be up at 5am and then I will go and have a few hours sleep while he is at work. We leave here at 1.30pm so won't be back on till Friday 23rd if I am not too tired after the travelling back.

Hope you will all stay well and see you later,

love and thanks for all the support
