Does anyone find they have bacome a messy eater? I find spots of liquid down my frontage and cant see why. I never used to be like this!

What always amazes me is that, with a gob the size of mine, it's a wonder I miss it!

My Mum (aged 87) is renowned for this, but it's not an 'age' thing with her - she's been doing it for years! She is a very slow eater and I think the food falls off her fork before reaching her mouth :-)

Generally I'm OK, but at this minute ....NO.
I have curry stains on my T shirt from a meal a short time ago.
I'm loathe to change now, as I'll be having a shower soon, so it can go into soak then.

I am a slow eater, but I guess fast eaters could spill things in their haste too.

In hosp I could manage a fork but not a spoon so I was given a mug for my soup however desserts were out of the question and so I was given by phsio a dessertspoon which the bowl veered to the right! No problem.

The knife substitute was strange was more like the chopping tool used in a bowl for chopping herbs etc.

So perhaps utensils like those would help!!!!!

Oh yes., Not a white t shirt without a blob of something. Can't understand it. Doesn't happen to daughter. Not helped I know by tv dinners. I'm just about to have dinner. Must remember the bib.

Daughter says I need to take myself to the food rather than how you would if you were sitting at a table. But then you would get indigestion by bending over

Just peeked at a flat I'm due to move into. Definitely tv dinners there. Not space to swing a small cat let alone accommodate a dining table.

I wear my glasses on a string and I am forever finding food on them. I think its an age thing. I just remembered that when I was younger and my grandmother and grandpa came for dinner we always made sure they had spegetti bol as it was fun to watch them eat that.

In the winter when I spend more time in pj's and dressing gown, the front of my dressing gown is more like a menu within a few days.

Fortunately my OH is just as bad as me. We make a right pair when we have eaten spag bol. And yes, it is probably not sitting at a table that does it. I actually did quite well tonight just one teent tiny spot on my T shirt and that was from a full roast dinner with gravy.

My o.h. is dreadful, always dropping food down his front. I wanted to get him the Union Jack large pelican bib that bhs once sold at Christmas, I think Dawn Call had one but when I went to bhs they had sold out and never had them since.

He says it's because we eat tv dinner style as the computer is always on the dining table in the kitchen/diner but he has tried a tray on his lap and a tv table, which he now favours, he still manages to mess up a shirt when we eat out at a proper table!

My heroes are those people who order spaghetti in a restaurant. I need to be alone and well covered to even attempt it.

I am sure they practice for hours alone at home just so as to be able to impress when they are out. I bet they don't even like spaghetti really.

The answer for the ladies is to wear one of those wrap around pinafore overalls our grans/mothers used to wear.....now we know why!!!!

I cant blame TV dinners! We eat at the dining table!. Nice to know I am not alone.

Sharron

Sharron Report 11 Jul 2011 10:34

I don't know about you Jean but I stick out a long way in front so anything that flies off my fork in the hurry to cram as much in as possible stands no chance of missing.

I am sure there are those who miss every time. So you have your choice, voluptuous gorgeousness or have your dropped gravy hit the table.

Vera2010

Vera2010 Report 11 Jul 2011 16:14

Maybe right Sharron. I think I will try that. Speed it up a bit if possible.. Mind you will have to be fast to avoid a repeat of the dunked ginger snap on the white top.
