I have noticed that one member has been a member since April 2003, and another since January 2003, yet on the announcement board, Genes claims to have been a member since June 2003. Doesnt Genes know when the site started?

It depends when that member of the Genes Team created that separate account to post on the board under.. It could also be when that team member actually joined GR.

I would imagine prior to that they used personal accounts to post on the rare times they did. :-)

Yes, I suppose so Mildred, but it did seem strange to me.

I think some people are still having trouble adding avatars Huia.

I've contacted support regarding my avatar..I appreciate it will take some time as they will be busy at the mo

I have no button next to the grey picture, cant click on the pic & if I try to save any changes I get an error message. :-(

I will be putting one up when its sorted tho :D

Mildred, the 'change' button is slightly lower (and to the left) than the grey picture, or it was on mine. Try clicking on it, see what happens.

Mildred, I had trouble adding my Avatar.

In My Account clicked change, a little box will appeared, clicked find file, found picture on computer, send file, at this point I got an error message. I tried it twice and decided to give up. Went back to site and found something I had posted and found that my Avatar had been added.

I have no change button anywhere on the page :-(

I have the words Profile Picture, on the same line a long box to write things in,. under that to the left is the grey picture.

No change button :-(

under country of residence, I have Hide living relations, and no box beside that to tick or not.

if I click on save at the bottom, it sends me to an error page, =I

I have Profile Picture, Grey Picture box next to this I have Change and Clear

Mine is my baby grandson's hands - signifying hands across the divide to you all and a bit closer to Huia.

Why has Mildred not got a button to push? There must be one there are you having a man's look? Ha ha. ;-)

I have exactly the same problem as Mildred and have written to GR to help sort it out. I simoly cannot go round unclothed..it is too, too humiliating! :-( :O :-(

Like Tootyfruity, I tried 3 times (3 different pics) and I think I got error message, anyway I thought it hadnt worked but when I came on the threads I found I had my 3rd pic. Nil Desperandum if it doesnt appear to have worked, because it has, but doesnt want you to know until you return to the threads.

I find it is good if we want to look at a certain persons earlier posting, we dont need to look at all the names, just look for their pic.

It took several attempts before my photo appeared - uploaded, it said, but then the site disappeared. Eventually it worked. My name was invalid but that doesn't matter, I just left it as it was before in first name.
I have no emoticons, but am not changing browser just so I can see them here as I see and use them in all other forums with no problem :-)

l can't change mine either..... l have actually been a member since Nov 2002, just before we moved to Wales, but have deleted a few times, so the 2008 is from when l last joined:o)

I have never posted so much in all the years I have been on GR. I do like having the avatars. A pity we cannot have first-year-of-joining for people who take a break but for those who dont, it is nice to see when they joined.

I saw my picture before I switched from my account page to the boards... but then I am special.

To 'av atar or not 'av atar that is the question whether it be nobler to prance around in your altogether or not.

Click on ..Update Profile, enter your p/w, on the next page is where you can alter your profile etc.....go down a few lines and you'll see in smaller type "clear change" its directly above where you add your counties and names that you are searching. Click onthat and you should come across a window that says find file or simular....good luck:o)
