that everyone laughed about.... until it worked?

I have a small patio parasol in my conservatory, to stop the glare from the sun on my puter screen. Hubby, sons and father all thought it hysterical.

But.... it works, is cheaper than blinds until the tree grows to provide the shade I want where I want it... and it can be moved around the room so that it is exactly where I need it!

Hi Daff

I know somebody who has one in theirs too.,great idea. Her hubby had to keep out of the sun.

Hi Marion, lol.... thing is, when we had the conservatory built, there was a huge Horse Chestnut which gave shade across the lunchtime... from about 11 until 3. Then that was cut down because of disease, so bang went my shade, and of course I had to stay out of the sun for quite a while as well. I have shrubs and a rowan tree which will eventually give me the shade I need for the most important spots..... but meanwhile, £14 for stand and brolly at A*** rather than £1400 for blinds... no competition, is there?

Takes a good brain to work simple things out lol.
The lady I know had a huge one,but then so is her concervatory.
My neighbours have bought some blinds, as they are so expensive.

Years ago we planned a BBQ and as usuall it rained, so in came the patio chairs table and brollies plus a sun on the wall made from balloons. Yes...they did think i was nuts lol. Food was grilled and fun was had by all.

Mine is fairly large, but I only wanted a small brolly.... it is *my* room, has my pc, and craft table at one end of it, and the dining table complete with big chunky wall unit at the other. The dining table we rarely sit at these days, it is usually full of my craft stuff, lol Most of the windows open wide, too, so on a very hot day it has a feel of a terrace or patio... mind, if the heavens open suddenly it is a mad dash to shut them all before my pc gets rained on, lol

LOL, not a domestic one but 40 years ago when i was working on forklifts, the usual tools would be a ratchet, a socket, and maybe an extension for loosening /tightening nuts n bolts........I often thought about a spanner that did away with the separate spocket part..........ie a ratchet that fitted the nut.

Lo and behold(although I hadnt seen any at the time),.this type of tool is now in use for many jobs. only drawback is,
you need a different tool for every different sized nut/bolt

sadly although I had the idea in MY head I never got round to producing it...
maybe someone HAD already beaten me to it but!!!!????

Nothing to do with parasols...but ..
The eldery man living next door to me had loads of moss growning on the concrete in his back garden he had tried raking it but it was hard work for him (he's 90 yrs old ) so he got his lawn mower and fixed 2 brushes either end of the blade ....it worked a treat for him his back garden no longer has any moss . lol
