I failed my GCE maths miserably and took a GCSE about 15 years ago - in my late 30's - and passed (just)!
I felt so good about myself, I applied for uni - mainly for a laugh - with 4 GCE's and a GCSE - and was very surprised when I was accepted! It was fantastic! Ended up (bearing in mind I was also coping with 2 teenage girls) with a 2:2 aged 43!

thanx Maggie I never got to do it at school n now I'm doing a re-sit my D is ok but new employers preefer a C ~ I jus got my level 3 NVQ in teaching assisting so know how much hard work it can be 2 teens and a tweenie here ~ now I'm 40 I'm ready for new challenges x

Well done on your NVQ3 in teaching assisting!!
I did a degree in Religious Studies and Education (they were seperate - not linked), and I know that the NVQ for Teaching assistants has some of the elements I did in my Education studies - does that entice you towards a degree?
The glory of teenagers is that they can spend an awful lot of time in their bedrooms contemplating their navels - and leave mum alone!!
Mine were 16 and 13 when I started my degree and the elder was hell on earth (she would agree) when I finished - it had nothig to do with my doing a degree - if anythng I had more time to be with her.
Youngest went on to take a degree as - in her words to me 'Don't mean to be disrespectful, but If you can do it, it can't be THAT difficult!!'

...it was a bit more difficult than she thought - but she thoroughly enjoyed it too!

LOL Maggie sounds like my house I'm not sure I could do a degree though Religeous studies sounds fascinating i=yu must be v proud of yur hard work x

I only did religious studies to win the occasional argument with my (now late) Brother in Law - he was a very lapsed Catholic.!
I'm not at all religious, even arranged to do voluntary work whilst at school to avoid RE, PE and games!!!
My dad was a convert to Islam and taught it in Saudi Arabia, so I avoided that - and Budhism!
The tutor in Hinduism was Colin Firth's lovely mum - Shirley!

Good luck Mel - go for it. And don't stop when you have it. I went back and did mine 10 years ago, I then carried on with higher education and now have a 2.1 degree in History. It is never too late

I failed my GCE, but re-took 6months later, I doubt I would have had the courage to retake any later than that.
