Afternoon everyone,

A lovely sunny day here this morning , very windy though all my washing soon got dry today .

Hope all those who have been poorly are feeling a bit better today , i have been so tired lately ,a couple of mornings i woke at 4.30 ,do you think i could get off again ,then during the day i could go to sleep as soon as i sit down !!

Liz, i hope your settling in your new home ok and that all your troubles are now over.

I want to get out into the garden this afternoon ,i bought some more little Violas at the car boot and i need to get them planted ,the trouble is i just get out side and DIL turns up with Katie and Chelsea , she usually comes and has a cuppa before she picks Jake up from school , and you try gardening with the two little ones trying to help :-)

Lunch time now

Sk* Chap here .Chester is shut in the study and is grumbling away behind the door lol.He is better kept out of the way.I'm just looking at yet another pile of ironing.I just don't understand why I always seem to have so much.it's just not fair :-| :-|

The man is outside banging away at something up the ladder .I though he just had to come and switch one box for another lol.Shows how much I understand these things doesn't it .

I think the sun is making an appearance. If its stays the next lot of washing can go out.Oh I can see some wires moving through the wall !
Maybe I had better go and offer him a drink if he is going to be here a while.

I should think so Jane, These workmen work better with a cup of tea :-D :-D

Genes still playing up, trying to put more on my tree, but it won't let me.I have found more with the help of Mel and Ancestry. I only have it for another week or so. Must cancel by 16th. REMIND ME !!!

Just ordered one of these ID stamps, that scrambles your personal details on letters etc. in CLEAN E### they are £10.00 Ebay £7.49 inc P & P. Pays to look around, and saves all the shredding of paper.

Sun came out for an hour, but now very cloudy.

All up and running.I will wait for James to come home to go through instructions for recording pausing etc etc.
I gave the man a can of coke and when he pulled the ring it sprayed right over my coffee table lol

There is a definite change in the air now.It suddenly has a bit of a chill .I will just something with sleeves on.I refuse to turn the heating on yet.Plus I'm dreading any problems we might get (as we usually do with our system). :-S :-S
Just off to cut up the potatoes so they will be ready to saute

I think all workman like a drink, makes them work better , hubby said you be surprised how many people will stand and watch you work with a drink in their hand and not offer you one :-S

Chilly out there now ,no heating on here yet , i've put a cardi on and hubby's sitting here in his shorts :-S

Off with DIL to a toy sale tomorrow , nearly new stuff ,we went to the last one six months ago and got lots of good bargains for the little ones .

Hi Everyone,

Just back from seeing Johnny English with Rowan Atkinson.......must cut out the coffees and icecream in future......they cost more than the tickets. They seem to have cut down on staff too. Just 1 girl doing everything, tickets, icecreams and drinks.

Yesterday the electrician unearthed a 5 foot long buried piece of wall complete with concrete footings and about 5 rows of bricks high. It was exactly where the cable to the pebble pool needs to go. He had to smash some of it up with a sledge hammer to get the cable to run under it........then have a rest!! lol Then, as he was digging across towards the side fence he unearthed about 3 feet of buried concrete path with deep rubble under it. That went just where the cable needs to go too!! Digging a simple channel 18 inches deep for the cable is turning out to not be simple at all. He needs to come back Monday now to hopefully finish it off. The slabs for the patio should arrive Monday morning ready to be started Tuesday.......I'm wondering what the chap will find under those now as he will be digging out to make a solid base!! :-S :-S Still, it looks like we should get those jobs finished this year which will be good. Also we think there should be some extra soil from doing this which is what we need to build up the middle flower beds. Then we can plant them up. Things are moving along nicely. :-D :-D

Sorry to hear there have been more falls Frank and Fiona......hope you aren't too bruised.

Patricia and Jane, my hubby always had his alarm set for 6.00am at the latest when he worked and I hated it too!! When he retired..... for quite a while I still woke up just before that time.....expecting the alarm to go off. It's funny really, because for the last 27 years I worked I would be up at 6.00am myself to be at work for 7.00am!!

Jane, have you upgraded to a Sk*+ HD box now then as our old and new box both recorded and the controls were the same??

David

David Report 7 Oct 2011 19:59

Thank you Melanie for the instructions on cut+copy+paste
Will doubtlessly help many.

Some kind soul called Jeniwren showed me how to do it 2 or 3 years ago.
It's a very usefull tool :-)

Ann ,did I miss you saying you were going to see J English and R Atkinson?I must have. What was it ?.and was it good?
Keep digging Ann and we might get Time Team to visit lol.Gosh what a job !!

Yes it is a Sk* + HD Box (so James tells me) lol.But the controls are not the same as my old one.I will have a lesson tomorrow as to how to use the controls :-S :-S lol

We just decided to go on impulse today Jane. We were going to see the open day for the new wind farm near here as they have switched the turbines on now, but it was rainy and we had our flu jabs to go for and that was near the cinema!! It hasn't got brilliant write ups and Rowan is a spy in it. It made us chuckle but we didn't find it hilarious.

I think that is awful not to offer workmen a drink Mandy, especially if you have got yourself one. I think most workmen are more obliging if you treat them well. I tend to ask every couple of hours......what do a few cuppas cost or a glass of squash with ice in! If they are working hard and doing a good job I get them some biscuits too. lol I think my previous MIL went a bit far years ago though.......she cooked the full english for one lot of workmen!!!

I hope Liz is getting things sorted a bit at her new place and that Merlin likes his new pad too. Is it quite countrified for riding and driving where you are now Liz? New walks for Millie to go on too.

It's good to do things on impulse sometimes Ann.(not that I ever do ) lol
I feel ready for bed.Think it is the dark nights. It just feels later than it really is.
I have a good book (my usual murder and gruesome thing),so think I will go and get stuck in and snuggle down.
Night Night ,and lets hope we all have a good nights sleep tonight xx

Just had a bath , and came on to say goodnight, chilly tonight , came out of Morr*sons this evening at 7.30 and it was almost dark,

OH got a huge hole to fill in tomorrow in the back garden moved some flagstones under the drain pipe and found the drain pipe was cracked it had been dripping for a while and has washed a lot of the soil away, we may need to replace the pipe, which will cost a bit of money , but it will need to be done before we can start the new back porch, I am getting nervous , everything that needs doing will be getting closer to Christmas, my op and back porch,
I wish we had dates for both jobs then I would feel happier

Going to watch a bit of TV,

night night

Morning Everyone.

Goodnews, OH found that the waterpipe does not need compleatly replacing, water was leaking form a joint not a crack, so he removed the joint and put a piece of straight pipe in and will now fill in the hole, must have been leaking for a long time, it had found a little hole under ground and trickled away and took much of the earth with it,

cloudy & wet again,
not got a lot on today, need to do some ironing, Daughter no 2 dropped off 2 big bags of washing on Thursday, I told her she will have to do it her self as I can't keep bending down filling the washing machine time & time again

Need to get dressed now, hope you all have a good day.

Morning Fiona and All,

Miserable again today but not raining at the moment. We had a lovely rainbow over the garden the other day and I took a pic. Son't know if it has come out yet as I have'nt downloaded it.

David the Copy and Paste was for the benifit of our Frank as he is doing some work on his tree and I thought if he could do it it would save him a lot of paper and time and ink!!

Well I don't know where this week has gone!! We were saying where had September gone and now we are one week into October. Time seems to be flying by.

Morning All,

Was going to the pub, for "BIG BREAKFAST" and watcvh England V France. but thought better of it.

We are off to Rutland to arrive at 3.30pm.!!! Jans Grand Daughter birthday. They are coming up from Torquay, she has arranged a party for her. Four this week.As we are classed as Step Gt Grand parents, we get involved with the family. We are staying the night, so will try to take my computer, and keep in touch.

Ros has gone to meet her friend to get the odds and sods at Morriso#s.
Martine (thats her name) is a MAD rugby fan. and will be well cheesed off with England loosing.

Dullish sort of day here, and a chill in the air. Ros has a line of washing out, so must keep my eye on the weather.

Conrad has just re-insured something with Compare the Market.com. and received his little meerkaat (spelling)He emailed the photo of it yesterday and has called it "STEVE SM ITH" after the advert. he's 42 and acts like a 10 year old. :-D :-D :-D :- Don't think he will ever grow up.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Will be in touch.

Hi Everyone,

Well here it is what I call 'drismal' at the moment.......fine drizzly rain that soaks you in moments and is not nice! I wanted to get clothes washed today as well before the workmen arrive after the weekend.......no chance of putting the rotary up when they bring their materials and equipment.

It was lucky your pipe wasn't cracked Fiona, made the job easier. It will be much better when you have some dates as you say so you can sort things out the best way in the busy time up to christmas.

We made a tiger tail necklace in class yesterday and I need to pop out soon and get some cord for next week's project. Then if the weather is the same I should stay in and get the hoover out........boring!

Hope you have a nice time with the family in Rutland Frank.

Afternoon everyone,

Heavy drizzle here now after a nice sunny morning , just had to get my washing in and got soaked doing it .

Fiona, it's good that your OH found out that it was only a leak on a joint and not the pipe , that's saved you a bit of money .
Hope you get your dates sorted out soon ,get it all over then before Christmas.

Enjoy your weekend with the family Frank,

Jane, my duvets back on the bed , was really chilly last night ,pillows that's what i need to buy ,i washed one yesterday and it's gone all lumpy !!! had a heck of a job to get it back into shape , for twopence i'd have slung it out ,but its one of the newer ones so i thought i'd better try and do some thing with it .

You should see Ann's necklace its really nice .

Cuppa time .....got to keep the workman happy ....hubby's painting the ceilings today .

Yuk Yuk,miserable afternoon here.Dark and drizzly now.
Mandy I have given up trying to wash pillows. They are never the same.I just keep protectors on them to make them last longer.
Well I haven't bought a duvet. The one I wanted was out of stock so will try again next week.I did get a double cover .It was missing the 2 pillowcases so I only paid £10.I have some pillowcases that will go perfectly.

I haven't seen a pic of your necklace from yesterday Ann!Is that the one Mandy is talking of?

I hope Frank enjoys the visit to Rutland and the party and that the weather is a bit nicer tomorrow.
I think I will just get changed into my comfy sloppy things and finish the rest of yesterdays ironing
:-S
