Afternoon everyone

Have been to the Chiropodist this morning and she has given me some shock absorbers for my shoes. NO not the kind you put in cars but they have a gas lining which is meant to compensate for my kna**ered knees.
I was amazed at the difference they have made and I can transfer them from shoe to shoe bliss.
The weather here is glorious again today with a bright frosty morning and not a cloud in the sky.
I called into the ice cream parlour to check that all is well for the first collection tomorrow and had a lovely drink with them ( tea) they are such nice people and I hope the ice cream is ok as we will use them again if it is.
Friend coming round with her grandson this afternoon so I can play!!!

Mel, I started the bidding at £50.00 with a buy it now at £75.00. Stillgot 3 days to go.

Ros's Op.is nothing to do with her back, but if successful, will be a great worry of her mind. (I won't go into details).

It stayed light here till 4.30. very dark out there now. and turned very cold.

Anne you be careful, playing with children, its so easy to twist and damage something. and we don't want that, do we???

Jane, I often post something and it dissapears, I thought it was something I did wrong, It is a bummer,I agree.

No David around today, I trust Ellen is well, Hows the weather up there ???

Jane

Jane Report 20 Jan 2011 17:17

Mel, it might seem a silly question. But why did you make them if you don't like them ? lolol
It is really cold outside now.I have the fire going today.First time since New Year.I think I have nearly killed it though as I just chucked a massive log on.It does feel nice and cosy though.
We had an open fire for a while when I was young, but then when we had central heating Dad blocked up the chimney and made this funny thing to make it look like it was still a real fire.He used a light bulb, with a metal bit that went over the top and it was covered in orangy tissue paper.Somehow the heat of the bulb made the metal thing spin slowly under the paper and it looked like it was flickering. It was very clever.Dad was always improvising.(I think that is the right terminology)

Whats for dinner tonight?

Good luck with your bids Frank.I bet you are glued to it aren't you?
Fingers crossed Ros's op is a success.
I think Fitz is popping up tomorrow. He is so excited ,as he has booked a week in Venice in March. He has been on for ages about wanting to go back,so I said go for it.Now I'm jealous as it is my favourite place, and I want to go too lol
He has lots of Albums of wonderful photos of Venice that he has taken over the years, and I can spend ages looking through them and reminiscing .
Maybe I will get there again before too long.
Mel I bet you are getting excited about your holiday now.It will come around really quickly.I haven't done a narrow boat holiday ,but my parents did and really loved it.

Frank I managed ok as Toby crawling around happily and hubby crawling behind him!!!
Its great having children around and he is a lovely boy.
Going out tonight to a Burns Night Supper, I think its the wrong night but Yorkshire people love to celebrate and its the only night we are all free

8.42pm

We have a visitor for the weekend LEWIS . Ros will pick him up from school tomorrow. His mum and dad are going to Scotland for the weekend from first thing in the morning to late Sunday evening. They will pick him up on the way back. We will enjoy having him as always. It will be cierma sat. morning. In the afternoon he can help me get rid of all the chicken wire and plastic roof. A neighbour has a SKIP and said I can put my rubbish in it, it will save taking it to the tip.

I bet some of you have gone up the wooden hill.!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 20 Jan 2011 20:56

I'm not up the wooden hill just yet Frank ,but I don't think it will be too long.
You better make sure your cupboards and fridge are well stocked if Lewis is coming lol

David, that is a question.I don't know.I would think the answer is yes.Do you have something you need to confess ???

Morning All,

Very very frosty again this morning but I would rather have this than rain. Beautifull blue sky and sunshine.

My washing is still on the line stiff as a board with a white line on top.

Jane I had'nt made this cake mix before. It was for a sponge cake but I put it in cake cases, saves cutting it up. I usually get the Greens one which is lovely and creamy.

Anne how did you enjoy your Burns Night? Was the hagis up to scatch?

Robby Robin was waiting for me first thing this morning and I had cooked him the egg I had in my pocket yesterday evening!! When I put it in there I thought the shell looked a little soft. Put my hand in my pocket and shoved my thumb straight in it!!! Then had to clear the pocket out and wash my coat.

9.26am.

Jane Report 21 Jan 2011 10:13

Morning Mel and all
Yuk what a mess Mel lol.You won't do that again.
Frosty here too ,and lovely and sunny.I had a nice walk down the lane, and up the track the other side, but then I had to turn around as there were lots of men with guns !I didn't fancy getting any closer.
Just going to clear the fire out(filthy job) then have a drink, before nipping off to Tes** for a couple of bits.

11.14am

Morning my lovelies,

Hope you all sleept well, and are busy with your choirs.

Had a phone call last night from one of my sister daughters (FIRST TIME EVER) to tell me they were putting my sister ashes in my Dad grave on Sat 12/2/11. It will only be a ten minute service. I don't think I want Ros to drive 260 miles round trip for that, so will pass. Next time (IF EVER) I am down there I will call as I always do. to pay my respects to Mum and Dad. and now my Sister and her Husband.

Mel, I only ever broke two eggs, in my pocket when I had my girls. It certainly leaves a horrible mess. It was only in my fleece, so easy to wash.!!!

Minus 2 degrees outside this morning even though the sun is shineing.

Ros is at a meeting about the fund raising for the scouts hut, this morning. I suppose there will be some scatter brain ideas thrown into the mix !!!! As long as I don't get involved thats allright,

Haven't had HAGIS for ages. very spicey and an aquired taste. not for everyone.

I had a little bird out front this morning. It seemed smaller that a wren, is there anything smaller than a wren ????? if so I have one in my garden. BET you haven't JANE la diddey la la..

David, If you look Cathartic. is going to the TOILET with a LAXATIVE. HO HO HO>

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jan 2011 12:23

Frank there is a bird smaller than the wren. It is a Goldcrest and it is the smallest bird in Britain. Likes pine forests. We get them here in the garden and they are truely beautifull make a short sharp call and are very quick in their movements.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jan 2011 12:27

Also the Firecrest.

This tiny, restless jewel of a bird vies with the goldcrest for the title of the UK's smallest bird. It is now an established breeding species, although only in very small numbers. It differs from a goldcrest in having brighter green upperparts, whiter underparts and a fiery orange crown stripe with broad whitish eyebrow stripe, and below that a short black stripe through the eye. Its small breeding population makes it an Amber List species.

Where to see them
Breeds mainly in south-east England and passage birds are seen largely on the east and south coasts. Best looked for in bushes and trees, especially conifers, often in the company of goldcrests.

When to see them
All year round, but passage birds arrive in September and October, with a return movement in March and April.

What they eat
Insects and spiders

No Frank ,I haven't .I just get the big b*****s,like the Heron lolol. You should try and get a photo of the little bird Frank.
It is so lovely outside. If it was just a little warmer I would be getting the table and chairs uncovered.5 can't wait to be able to sit out again.

Frank that is a long way to go for Ros to drive.I think you are right, and you can go another time to pay your respects.
How are the bids going on your coop?

Must get on .I'm not sure if Fitz is coming or not so I may as well carry on with some boring housework.
