It's funny how dogs let you know with their eyes. The eyes say so much don't they?

12.24pm

Afternoon folks,

Was a very lazy boy this morning. Ros was up and about at 7.30 unusual for her. She bought me in my Asprin and a cup of tea about 8.15 I then got my E book out and read for half hour. Put my head down and went back to sleep till 10.15.

Ros left some bits at Conrad's on Friday. He rang this morning to say they would bring them over this afternoon, and perhaps stay for dinner. I've done loads of pots, parsnips, brussels, beans, cauli and carrot. The joint might not be big enough, so Ros has gone to get a larger one. KIDS.!!!!
All it wants now is Harvey to ring and say they are coming !!!!

Tele, was a load of rubbish last night. apart from piers Morgan. But tonight will be different. BBC has one of my favourites LARKRISE. so will record that, and watch dancing on ice and the African drama series. Then watch Larkrise before bed. Football at 1.30pm Man United v Liverpool. that won't go down well, I bet I end up in the conservatory !!!!

Going to lay table, while Ros is out. Then I can settle down to thew football.

It appears that someone tried to spend 2 lots of £700 at Currys and 2 lots of £200 at Best buys on our card.Luckily it was blocked, but it now means both our cards have been cancelled and we will get new ones.It was done on the internet this morning !!!.

The casserole is smelling good, and I have a large joint of beef in the oven which will be cooking for 2 hours. That is for tomorrow night when James is back .I will slice it today and reheat tomorrow in gravy.I asked him what he would like for his Birthday meal and it was roast beef.He only gets that when he is home and we haven't had it at all since he came back from Uni.

I have been dreaming about my parents a lot just lately.I think it is because of everyones recent bereavements. It must stir up memories sub conciously .
They have been pleasant dreams which is nice.

I had a long chat last night with an old family friend from Wembury(where I grew up) and it was nice hearing all the gossip from the village.Made me want to go back. But he said it is not the same anymore. On New Years day ,he said a hundred people went for a swim down at the beach. It started a few years ago with just half a dozen people !!
The sun is shining brightly ,and showing up my mucky windows lol

Gosh Jane , you were lucky that the fraud was spotted! It's just awful the wicked things people do these days, you certainly have to be 'up in the morning'!! OH had the same with his Barclay Card about two years ago, that was with Carphone Warehouse (or whatever it's called!), luckily it was spotted and, like you we were rung up, and had to have new cards!! It's nice to hear news of where you used to live, but you know what they say 'never go back'! probably best not to. We've chicken for supper tonight, OH is making bread rolls, and I've made Flapjack; try to do baking when the Rayburn is turned up, economy rearing its head!!!

We had a nice ride to the coast , lovely sun shine but a cold wind, we walked down to the front and had a look at the sea which was on its way out and splashing up on the rocks, then went and had a hot chocolate to warm ourselves up.
Crab shop was closed Frank, opens again in March !!

Goodness Jane, there's some crooks about , i sometimes think these cards are more trouble than there worth ,we didn't have these problems years ago .
Hows the Casserole coming on ?

Mandy ,it's looking good. The Chicken is cooked ,but the veg need a bit longer.Do I just leave the chicken in there or will it toughen up?
I have just sent you all a photo of a disaster I had earlier !!!!!

Annx Report 9 Jan 2011 17:27

Afternoon All,

What lovely sunshine we've had around here today, but deceptive. The car showed 6 degrees but there were frozen puddles at the roadside in places when we went out earlier.

How dreadful Jane, the cheek people have these days beggars belief. I often think it is just a matter of time before it happens to any of us.

I'm just the same lately Fiona/ Liz. I went to bed quite early last night as I was really tired, then couldn't get to sleep for ages. I woke up about 4.00am and didn't really get off again till about 7.00am!!!

Glad you are at least feeling a bit better today Mandy. The kitchen smelled a lot better this morning thanks to your vinegar tip!

Oh no Jane......lol,lol Even Chester looks a bit forlorn. Was the wash too hot for it..........just tell James he must have outgrown it!!!! lol This has happened to me too in the past!!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jan 2011 17:38

I didn't even realise it was in the machine Ann.So yes it was too hot.We were in stitches when I found it.I had tears streaming down my face ,then started to cough and was nearly sick lol
Chris has just ordered him a new one (couldn't get the same blue though). So it should be here before he goes back to uni next weekend.

Oh dear Jane!! what have you done , at first when i saw the photo i did wonder if you had stretched it , then i thought no she's shrunk it lol

Put it at the bottom of his pile of sweaters then when he tries it on say" well who's put some weight on" lolol

Or you could give it to Chester to chew up ....then say... well if you will leave things laying about lol

Jane

Jane Report 9 Jan 2011 18:34

I did feel guilty Mandy as James bought it himself. But I think he will be happy with the new one.I even persuaded Chris to buy him a shirt to go under it.
It sounds like you had a nice trip out to the coast today.I get so jealous every time you go lol.I just really miss the sea.(as I say every time !)

The carrots still feel a bit hard in the slow cooker !I will give it a bit longer and then add some Bist* to thicken and rich it up a bit.The mash is cooked and just needs reheating. The joint of beef I cooked earlier is so tender.I'd rather have that lol.But it will be nice tomorrow.I have sliced it up and there is enough for another 2 meals for me and Chris and some for James to take back to Uni.I will freeze his in gravy.

Fiona ,I'm glad the sun was shining today for you to go to the cemetery. As you say once your Dad's Ashes have been interred on Friday you can look forward to the New year. How long ago did your your Mum pass away?

LilyL

LilyL Report 9 Jan 2011 18:53

Forgot to say Jane, I usually par- cook carrotts in the micro-wave,as they always seem to take longer than other veg to cook. Now I tell you!! sorry!!! OH watching very noisy War Film, lots of blood and thunder, VERY noisy music! over in 10 mins, then Country File, should be quieter!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Jan 2011 18:57

Oh gosh have I just had a laugh!!!!!!!!!!pmsl.........................................

I did that with a mohair scarf of mums the other week. Thought I would wash it and put it in with some washing on a 40 wash. Big mistake it would hardly go round my neck when it came out. Laughed then too and flung it straight in the bin. It had gone soooooo hard too.

It looks to me as though Chester has his eye on it for himself. it should just about fit him Jane.

Just about to finish the roast dinner and yes we have beef tonight.

Looking forward to Lark Rise tonight and taping the whole series.

18.57pm.

Jane Report 9 Jan 2011 19:16

Mel I need to get a piccie of James holding the jumper up against him lol
Liz thanks for the tip on carrots !!!!!I will remember that next time.Have just put the gravy in ,so it will be dished up in about half an hour whatever the carrots are like.I find it very strange that it doesn't all bubble like it would if it was done in the oven.I suppose I will get used to that.Hannah hasn't felt like a 'proper' meal, and has just had a couple of crumpets. So that will mean there is a spare bit of chicken and veg for me to freeze ,and that will be another meal for James to take back with him next week.

8.11pm

Jane, I have said it so many times, it's about time you listened to me "YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DO THINGS ALONE " you are dangerous. !!!! What a mess of a good jumper. POOR JAMES.

Conrad and Jan, arrived about 3.30pm. I did a nice joint of beef. When dinner was over I went in the kitchen to clear up and thought I would use the dish washer. BAD IDEA. It flooded the kitchen and blew all the electrics in the house. Something else this year. When will it end.!!!! Conrad looked on the web. and found that it would cost about £140.00 to put right. I can buy a new one for that money.

I have enjoyed a nice bottle of J P Chenet. shiraz. and feel quite happy with life.

A friend who is off to Florida Tues morning rang to say her washing machine has eaten a sock, and blown up.!!!! She has bought round two baskets of washing. So our machine is on till about 9.30/10pm. She will call back later to collect it.

Fiona, so pleased that things are getting back to normal by next weekend, I am sure you will be sad for a bit yet, but time is a good healer. I still think of my Dad most days and thats been 53 years on the 30th. So it nice to have good memories.

Going to watch "Out of Africa" now. might pop back in later, if not good night GOD bless to you all.

Excuse me butting in on your conversations. My parents died just over 10years ago and suddenly I was the only member of the family left. I was lucky with a wonderful husband to help me come to terms with the loss ( my parents died within a year of one another ).
Now we have a wonderful granddaughter and another one due in March and, although I still think of my parents constantly, it is with affection and not just grief. Time does help to heal and the generations move on.
Hope you begin to feel better soon Fiona.
