I've been reading off and on about people taking screenshots on here - what is one and how do you do it?

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 27 Apr 2010 17:33

its a screen shot of the exact page, so it cant be tampered with like a copy and paste can,
i have no idea how you do one tho lol xxx

It is basically an image of what you actually see on your screen, like a photo in a way.

It's easy to do. If you can copy and paste you can do this no problem.

just press the 'Prnt Scrn' key, then open a new 'word' document, and paste it on there. There you have your screenshot.

The difference between that and a copy and paste is that it cannot be altered. What is written on a screenshot cannot be edited, unlike a straight copy and paste.

Screenshots are often used to illustrate a particular IT problem, when the helpdesk may as for a screenshot to be emailed to them, so they can see what's going on, or see the error messages for themselves etc.

Please Gels, leave this thread on the board, so that I can have a go, when I have more time. Will soon be doing the evening meal, and OH has just come in and disrupted my concentration anyway.
I'm sure it would be helpful to others, also.
Many,many thanks

Stray - press the Print screen key, then bring up your word document programme. Then to paste it into the word document,
press control and v at the same time, and that will copy into the document for you.

Stray, nothing does happen when you press the key.

But it's taken the shot of the screen, you then have to paste it into word.
