Yes we recycle.
Black wheelie bin for household stuff
Grey wheelie bin for Cardboard and garden stuff
Small blue box for glass and plastic,and cans
Small red box for paper
We have a compost where I chuck out any old potatoes and veg and fruit if they have gone past it.
Sometimes we have to take a couple of bags out of the black bin as it gets too full ,and take them to the tip.
I get really angry each weekend when I go to Tes** and use the recycling bins to see someone just dumps their rubbish there.It must be the same people who do it.I think it is a Bl**dy cheek.I hope someone catches them soon.

Have recycled all my adult life, low wages started me off and have kept it up. I cant think how many dresses became skirts and then pinnies. Stockings made stuffing for cushions and toys. Leftover food went on the dogs plate.

Have got chatting with friends, colleagues, etc. Just wondering if any council does doorstep glass recycling?

As I said before, we are fortunate that lot's of local carparks have recycling bins. But what about those who are elderly/infirm or without transport?

Just a thought, to give us recyclers more food for thought.

2 Boroughs (to my knowledge) do it in N Kent.

Don't know why we bother seperating them from the paper/plastic/metal as requested; it all gets tipped into the same lorry.

In a word no used too until the lazy sods could not be botherd to walk 15 yds to pick it up , so dont bother now.

We have weekly doorstep collection of ...
Glass,paper, card, tins, cans and plastic( milk bottles, squash bottles etc but not yoghurt cups or plastic food trays)

All goes out in one large box, a bit like child's toy box, and is sorted at the kerb-side into the different compartments on the collection lorry.

I wish that more types of plastic were recyclable.

Garden waste is collected fortnightly( we pay an extra fee for this service) and the council turn it into soil- improver and offer it for sale back to the public.

We recycle most things here;

Paper and card in a green box collected fortnightly
All kinds of plastic and tins in a blue box collected fortnightly

Our council now offers recycling for yogurt pots and plastic food trays so not much goes in the black bin now.

I put all uncooked food waste and tea bags into the compost bin (provided for £10 from the council)

Our new recycling scheme seems to be working well. Apparently our council have increased their recycling from 33% to 60% since it started at the beginning of April. We have a green wheelie bin for landfill.
Blue wheelie bin for Glass bottles/jars, newspapers, junk mail, A4 type paper, a small amount of shredding, cans, cardboard, plastic bottles/milk containers. (no yoghurt pots or food trays or tetra packs.
We have a brown wheelie bin for garden waste and we have a small green bin and a kitchen caddy for food waste (cooked and uncooked).
We also have our own compost bin which we put tea bags and uncooked veg/peelings in.
Green bin and brown garden waste bin collected one fortnight, blue bin the other fortnight, food waste collected weekly.

Food waste is to be turned into farm compost I think.

We have a large recycling machine at our T***o shop which will take glass, cans, plastic bottles and some food trays, margarine and butter containers (not yoghurt pots) and we have a bin for tetra paks.

Bottles /jars I take and put in recycling bin at supermarker.

up here in the north west of scotland, for the last two years we have 2 bins. one is for anything considered organic, paper, food cardboard, garden waster etc and a non organic for everything else.
beside the bin in the kitchen i keep a carrier bag and put all paper and food scraps in. i keep the plastic bottles in a box for when i go to local shop. they have a recyling skip behind the shop. at the end of each day i go out to the main bin and empty the carrier into the organic. if we put the wrong things in the wrong bin we could get told off or even fined, although noone has yet.

personally i dont find it to o much of a problem and leaving out the plastic bottles from the bin really cuts down the space. we actually have 2 ord bins and one org. our collection has only ever been fortnightly and they do fill up quickly.
if i sorting out clothes we are lucky to have acharity shop next to to our grocery store, just been completed 2 weeks a go.

i appreciate that not everyone has a car and could make it harder to transportthe goods. but im sure we all do what we can in our own way.

Anyone who is really interested in recycling (& I may have said this before so sorry if I have.) have a look at the website called My Zero Waste.
This is about a family who have no landfill waste at all every week. They have even got a place in a supermarket car park where you can deposit clean crisp packets. These are used by Phillipino women to make into bags etc.

Where we live in Oz we have three bins. Normal garbage, recyling for paper, plastic bottles etc and a "green" for grass clippings, prunings etc. It works well.
