We had a fantastic day at the new Wembley stadium and sun was red hot too.

It was great to be in London and meet up with our family and friends, all wearing our blues (many folk stopped us on the tubes going back to ask us how Chelsea got on) Chelsea?? who are they lol
7000 fans from little Whitley Bay shouting our heads off and waving our flags.....i'm now hoarse!!......and for my Grandson a marvellous 21st birthday present.

Thanks Mel,Muffy and Susan.........Glossop played well Paulene and had a few tries but the best team won :o)

Seeing our team lift the FA Vase cup was magicall( especially as our premier team( the Toon) has been abysmal this season

well done Whitley!

Muffy I'm sooo jealous that you were there that day! I was in Hong Kong (almost as good !) on a work trip and our group was roughly half yids and half gooners. the trip leader, a yid, had arranged for someone in his London office to phone him at the restaurant as soon as the match finished - what a scene THAT was pmsl

been to footie today too. Jamie's team Gillingham beat Rochdale to get to the League 2 playoff final. great game, great atmosphere. so now the kids and their dad are off to Wembley in 2 weeks. I'm jealous again cos I'll be away again!

We had to queue for ages for tickets Maz as I recall and have loads of receipts to prove we'd attended matches that season.

We were up with the gods and the view was awful.......but........I still count it as one of the best days of my life.

We stopped at every pub along the 7 mile route home too........taunting gooners every time lol

*happy days* lol xx

aww that's a shame Maz. The new Wembley looks great and pitch was pristine.......reckon i'll be dreaming of this day for a long time to come.

Our team have worked really hard with lots of games in the last couple of weeks, they definitely deserved to win today, Whitley Bay is proud of them! "o)).....we stopped at pubs and gave Londoners a rousing Hello!! lol

Muffyxx Report 10 May 2009 23:06

Well I have never heard of Whitley bay....but I'm chuffed to bits for you Mau.

Nothing better than walking out of Wembley as winners.

Devastating when you lose though lol....but hey.......that's football !!! xx

Dear Football Fans

Very pleased that you are happy with the football!

I do remember the 1991 semi-final with Arsenal and Spurs.
The final between Spurs and Nottingham forest was superb.

I have got the video.

But my favourite, was Euro 2008, held in Austria and Switzerland,
even though no home teams qualified.

For me it was a magical time. I wish I could go back and enjoy the whole tournament again.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT.

Hope you all had a safe journeys home and don't have hangovers!
Wishful thinking, methinks!

Best wishes
x

I can just imagine Muffy lol
My mate was at Wembley the year of the Ricky Villa goal - and it was on his birthday - he counts that as probably THE best day of his life lol. I did go to the first game, the draw, in either 1981 or 1982, but I can never for the life of me remember which one! I know it was a huge disappointment and anticlimax tho and I couldn't go to the replay :-(( Wish there had been extra time and penalties in those days!
Mau, we went and did the tour of new Wembley in Jan last year, but I was gutted - wasn't told when I booked that there would be NO PITCH there! Was just sand and bulldozers! Went to the last playoff final that Gills were involved in - they won and I have to say the atmosphere was just superb. Can't go to this one tho as I will be away.

Hi Elizabeth

We're still down here until Tuesday and will be watching the Toon tomorrow night (fingers crossed as we have to beat Middlesborough) but nothing can spoil today for us Whitley Bay were brilliant!!

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 10 May 2009 23:23

I would've given anything to be there for the Ricky Villa goal........pure class. I watch it on you tube even now and it gives me chills!!!.I didn't go to football in those days....sat watching it on TV with my spurs supporting Grandad lol. I BLAME HIM for all these years of angst.

I DO have the feeling though Maz that next year may be our year......I KNOW it's been said so many times.....but.......I really feel our time is coming xx

ohhh I do hope so!! if Harry stays and we can sign a couple of great players in key positions you may just be right! let's hope for a win over city and at least a draw at Anfield, and for Newcastle to stuff Fulham, and we might even get into Europe next year! that would be quite an achievement after the start we made!

It was my Grandson's 21st birthday and to see his home town winning a cup at Wembley will leave a lasting memory for him

I'm off to bed now to dream the day again so good night all

Muffyxx Report 10 May 2009 23:33

Absolutely

This season I'm just majorly relieved we aren't fighting relegation because at points earlier this season.... I really believed we'd had it......now if we'd started as we'd finished.........who knows how different things could be !

I'm not overly worried if we don't make Europe this year........but with a few new players like you say and a following wind........I'm not saying we're premiership champion material......but I'm certain we're on the edge of it in the next few years if we can just bleedy well pull together.........I'd settle for the fa cup and top 5 next season xx
