Thanks for the birthday wishes, girls. I have spent about an hour trying to read the Aussie thread, but the format that GR comes in these days I get very confused over which page I am on and sometimes go to the same page instead of the next one. As a result I dont come on too often. I think it might be the St John alarm which is causing the problem. Presumably GR have only a weak signal, or are on the same wavelength as the alarm, or something like that. I have the same problem with one other website, but not my emails or FB. It is very annoying. I hope a new phone might be the answer.

Hi Huia, that is frustrating for you. I think it must be either your phone or the alarm causing it because the GR format has not changed. Anyway, good to see you on here and know that you are ok. for once the sun is shining this morning. We have both still got nasty coughs and colds (2 weeks in my case) soa re not going out anywhere today. Had to go to town yesterday though as I had a chiropodist appointment. Found it exhausting.
Jean I have put a message to you on the craft thread. <3

poor little thread :-(
we spent the weekend on the Island, from Thursday to Monday.
Managed to do quite a lot to help our friend ................ she has moved into a condo, but there are still a lot of books and pictures at the house (closing date is end of February) that she has to sort out.
We didn't get into the cottage (where we used to stay) as we ran out of time, that is still on sale, so there is some furniture in there as well as pictures and books.
We enjoyed ourselves, had a good birthday dinner with our closest friends on Friday evening, and then lunch with some other friends on Sunday.
The weather was very uncertain ................ pouring down with rain on Thursday, bright sun on Friday, wet on Saturday, terrible overnight, "April showers" type of weather on Sunday, and sunny on Monday :-S
Anyway, we're back home now :-D
we may go back after February 10, if our friend needs more help.

Hi, everyone, Sylvia where do you get the energy from....good to hear you had a nice birthday meal, its my big 80 in June, but we will probably have a few days away and a family meal too....we have been hit by lots of snow here and daughter had trouble getting her large car in the parking plot neither J or myself could help, but two good younger neighbours got it in the plot,it was very bad and now its looking as though its ice... we do have bags of grit so that has gone down, hope we dont get any more...
Ann, I dragged out my cuttlebug out so I could sit down and do some die cutting , alas it a no go for me , all the details are one your cardmaking post...
now for the main news, I have to see a consultant and have a biopsy in Feb, also another one for white patches in my mouth, but havent got a date yet, and theres more ;-) ;-)we need to get the ears sorted too, snow has held us up ,so if we can we will book in asp....My six month check up for the eyes has just been cancelled as they are restructuring the clinic lists and will give me a new date six weeks before I need to go..... its mad.....
Mo hope you are o.k. also Roly...
where is our Sallie ? I do hope she and the family are ok, I know the area she lives in has had lots of snow, so hope its not affected her too much... and she iback to card making. missing you pet ... <3 <3 <3
love to Huia, Marie and all our other friends....

Hello dear friends, sorry for not posting in a while. Both Roly and myself have not been to good, the flu virus has got us both laid up again.
Sylvia, it's nice to hear that your time on the island went well. Your friend is lucky to have good friends looking out for her, and helping as you and your OH have been doing. But then thats what good friends are for isn't it. It sounds like you had a good meal, and weekend with your other friends as well.
Oh Jean my love, I hope that they sort you out soon sweetheart. Hanging about and worrying is so frustrating, but god willing all will work out for you. Sorry to hear that you are snowed in up there. We have been so lucky here in Kent, just a few flakes that didn't lay, but it is oh so cold, even with the heating going full blast, neither of us are feeling very warm at all. But then having this darned flu bug doesn't help.
I send you all my best wishes, and hope to speak to you very soon. Hugs Mo

Mo, do hope that you and Roly are getting over the flu. Didn't you have the flu jab? I know that there is a virus caused by a mutation of a flu virus but the flu jab should give a bit of protection from it . I think that is what we had so we were not confined to bed but it was more like a fluey cold with a cough. We are both much better now, T even played golf yesterday. I too have made a couple of cards Jean today, as well as doing the Tesco shop and having our hair cut. T has also cleaned the car. My cards were more made with the Hunkydory toppers daughter gave me for Christmas. :-)

Hello girls,
Sorry I haven't been on here for a long while, the usual thing. Although over the last ten days I have started to improve and am feeling a bit better and I am able to do a few more cards-----so feel really pleased.
I hope that you are all alright, you must all think that I have forgotten you, but I just haven't been able to get my head around writing messages.
We have Richard and Christie here for the weekend, it's nice to have them stay. So tonight we are all going out for a meal together, looking forward to that.
Will post again when R and C have gone back home.
Jean, I will return your pm too.
Take care everyone and keep warm.
Love and hugs. Sallie. xxx <3 <3 <3 <3

Morning all, Sallie so pleased to see you back on here, and that you are beating the usual problem, just like me when the dizziness comes I wont let it win !!! :-P :-P
Making cards is such a lifeline I think, takes ones mind off other intrusions.... I did some colouring of white die cut shapes and made three more cards.. waiting for some valentines toppers to come, hope they come soon , 14th Feb is the day , so not much time to get them in the shop that sells them for charity....I also did some stamping as a background, but found some of my ink pads had dried up I am sure there is a way to bring them back to life, any ideas?
it was brilliant sitting in what was usually a cold room , now a lovely warm one thanks to the new roof and I can do any crafting anytime....lol...or just sit and read, listen to music and nod off ......
take care every one home and abroad, keep warm and safe..
love Jean xxx

Try looking on line and see what you can find.

Hello girls, just popping in to say hello, and let you know that I am still around.
We have been very lucky here in Kent, not to have had snow, that most of the rest of the country seems to be suffering with, at the moment. There were a few flakes the other day, but thank goodness the ground was to damp for it to lay.
This blessed virus has had both of us laid up for a few weeks now. Some days I wander why we had the flu jab in the first place, and yes, I know it's a different virus, but good grief it has made us both so down. Poor Roly is on anti-biotics for it, as it made his blood pressure raise to over 150, and the doctor has said it's the virus that has done it to him. It does worry me, following his past history, and the stroke a couple of years ago. Still these things are sent to try us, and god willing, once the sun shines, we will feel better.
I do hope you are all well, and staying warm in this weather. Sending you all my very best wishes, Mo xxx

Morning campers, :-D well we have booked a holiday, near to home, we needed to do it as we were becoming quite lethargic about going anywhere..... St Annes is a place we used to go to just for a day, so a short break will be nice, plenty of eating places and lots of places to venture out to.... we are on the promenade and within walking distant to the shops. I did suss out where the craft shops are.... ;-) ;-) ;-)
D has booked her Florida holiday too, so we will have a couple of weeks on our own which will do us all good :-D :-D :-D we rub along fairly welll but do have the occasional flair up so its time for a break....
I am off to see the consultant on Thursday ,so prayers and thoughts would be helpful... thanks....
Mo this virus is a very nasty one and our flu jabs dont really touch it , but J was complaining of feeling cold, something he never has, I am always cold even in warmer weather..... D on the other hand never feels cold, and has acute hearing, so we bicker over the volume of the tele :-D :-D :.J and I are also going to have our ears checked sometime this week.... isnt old age wonderful :-( :-( :-( :-(
Thank goodness our minds so far are working well, although J makes lunch and he ate my sandwiches before I found out !!! he had no idea he had done it...lol...
Cold misty day so far, but a promise of brighter weather later on.... so I will send love and hugs to all our friends over the water, and hope they are all well...
coffee calls so bye for now love Jean xxx

Oh Jean, you made me chuckle, when J ate your sandwich before you realised it. You couldn't have been very hungry when it was made, or you would have demolished it straight away, aah bless J, he was extra hungry.
Nice that you have booked a break away. We are of to Yarmouth again in May, back to the place we have been for the last couple of years, it will be quite quiet when we go, but then that suits us.
It has been a lovely day here today, bright sunshine, but still a bit chilly. It was so nice to see a bit of brightness for a change. Our Lilly was able to go out and play in the garden to let of steam, rather than drive her mummy mad today. She enjoyed herself on the trampoline and swing, and is now so tired and ready for bed. Bless her heart, she gets so bored being stuck indoors during the winter, just as we adults do.
Well my lovelies, I will say cheerio for now, take care all.x

Cant believe its so long since the last addition to this thread, where is everyone,? maybe its time to let it go :-( :-( many of the usual folk find it hard to think of news other than our various upsets and illness. the whole of GR appears to be in decline, My thoughts are when the boards were split up , thats when the rot set in , we also lost many of our lovely friends and it seems hard to let them go ..... most of our hobbies come on here ;re me and my crafts, for which I apologise and when our closer friends go missing for one reason or another the heart has dulled into "cant be bothered" which is quite sad we have been intertwined with each other for many years, and now and then other folk come on and are always welcome, so now I have voiced how I feel I wonder how anyone else feels and can add their thoughts and maybe a solution to what seems such a shame to lose contact with each other....maybe its just me........we have always been here for anyone who just wants to chat about anything ..so please add your opinions....
love as always Jean xxx

I think there are only you, me and Mo who are on this particular thread more or less regularly Jean. And Sallie when she is well enough.
I am sorry, I have been on the boards but, because the thread is out of sight I haven't remembered to add to it. Mo hasn't been well so I assume that is why she isn't posting.
I don't think we should let it go because it is good to keep in touch, even if we are not doing anything very interesting. Maybe when the spribg comes it will make us all feel better. Some of these long dark days can be very depressing.
I am off to tesco this morning, then have to make a hair appointment for daughter who is coming bext week to go to the craft fair at Malvern. And also an appointment for me for a colour to cover the grey.
Made 6 cards yesterday, very ordinary ones making myself use up bits I have in my toppers box.
Mo, if you look in, hope you have shaken that cough.
Sallie, hope you will rejoin us soon.

Ann, I too have been card making , I have a beautiful intricate die and thought it would be hard to do, but it came out so well I have made four 6x6 ones so I will get the pics done, its a De,sire die C/C have shown them today, so I hope to get a couple more... they will be nice for mothers day cards...
We went to the ear clinic yesterday, J had his adjusted , I am going for a reassesment as its quite a while since they were tested, good news is the one I have is now obsolete so hopefully a more dainty one would be good I lost one and it is going to cost £75 to replace... :-0 :-0 :-0...
We had hoped to go to a carvery for lunch, D is out tonight, but it as poured down all day, never stopped and very heavy too....so there is two ready made Lasagnes in the freezer, so we shall have them instead :-) :-)
I have this post and your craft one also bithday girls on my tools watch, so when i switch on I look at my e-mails then GR then Crafts, and B/g.... then look at the general boards....I noticed how far down this one was....so thought I would say my piece ;-) ;-) I worry about Sallie, she does have a bad time if thats the reason for her absence . my heart goes out to her and Alun, I have been there and its just as hard for the partners.... but her card making does help sometimes....
Mo and Roly have really struggled with the coughs and colds, its been a vicious virus and hard to get over it, unless she has been painting again , its that time of year ;-) ;-) ; but sending love and prayers to them all....
also Sylvia, Marie Huia, Jenny, Elizabeth, Liz who we used hear from, and anyone else who wants to say hello ...

Hello my lovelies, Sorry to have been absent for so long, it's the old adage, the heart is willing, but the memory is shocking. I must try to post more often, as it would be such a shame to lose our little thread after such a long time of being in contact with each other. Some days, we may not have much news to impart, but just a quick hello, would allow us to know that things are plodding along nicely.
Jean my love, I have got the doctors on Monday, for my results at long last. But I feel sure he will refer me for blood test, to see what is going wrong.
It has been nice here for a couple of days now, and I have washed all the living and dining room curtains, and have been able to get them dry on the line, ooooh such a luxury. The paint brushes will come out soon Jean, but not just yet, I will wait for the central heating to be switched off first.
I hope that our Sallie manages to get back to normal soon, bless her this black dog has plagued her for long enough now, and she deserves a rest from it.
Ann, will you be going to the craft fair with your daughter, when she come down? I had my hair all chopped of on Tuesday, it does grow so quickly, even though I have it trimmed every five weeks, I like to keep it short.....LOL it gets in me eyes otherwise.
Well girls, I will say bye for now, as I am orft to darts shortly, wish me luck. Take care one and all, Mo xxx
