Jean Durant Report 20 Dec 2008 14:07

............................................................Waited and longed for the 1911 census as my grandfather's birth is not registered and he is not on any census although born in 1874.

Not to be daunted I found who I believed to be my grandad and travelled backward in time to 1824 where I have hit another brick wall.

Have found him and grandma on the 1911 with 5 of their children and HE DEFINATELY IS MINE.

I am one very happy bunny.

I know I said I wanted to live long enough to see the 1911 but I have now changed my mind and decided I'd like to be around for the release of the next one lolol.

Gypsy Report 20 Dec 2008 15:31

Me too Jean!

I had long wondered about my great grandfather, All I knew was his name - Henry Finney. Then about 2-3 years ago I spoke to someone who had a Henry Finney in their tree who had left his wife for the servant girl who was called Rose (My great grandmothers name). There were lots of other things that made me think that this was my Henry.
I know that Henry and Rose had their first child in 1922 So you can imagine my astonishment when last night I found Henry with a servant called Rose Perry (great nans surname). It confirmed that he was 'my' Henry.
I am over the moon!

Well done on yours - Roll on the 1921!!!!

Wow, how exciting. It is great when you can track people down , esp the ones who seem to be doing their best to hide.

My aunt (by marriage) was born in 1910, she is still alive and very with it. Has got memories of all sorts of things and times.
She (and her twin sister) should be on the 1911 Census.
It will be lovely to show her the family and neighbours on the Census.

Thanks everyone for replying. I am still on Cloud 9 :)

3 of my main lines, and their offshoots, are London born and bred, so I have been very lucky and found children I didn't know of born between the 2 census'.

Shirley this is the link to the Beta version which will only be on line until tomorrow. So get searching.
