I do I was very young,I also remember my Mum having ago at my Dad once when he told her she was on strike the next day.

I was thinking more of being like the early 80's when no one was in work or it seem like no one, even TV programmes were about people being unemployed its getting very worrying I must say.

I remember the power cuts etc of the 70's.........as a kid they where such fun.

Oddly enough I happened to buy an old Giles cartoon book yesterday from a charity shop , it was the 1972 one.........lots of cartoons about the power cuts ( and the politics that went with it )..........a blast from the past .

But I agree with Hayley that " things " in general are starting to feel like the 80's again ( employment wise ).

The very moment that the light went off my Mum would be busy shoving a copper kettle on the open fire ( we didn't have gas and cups of tea where her main aim in life ) mind you it usually took at least two hours to come to the boil...........lol

Happy hours spent round a candle making funny shapes in shadow form on the walls............and joy of joys being sent to bed with a night light candle in a saucer of water............I'm becoming most nostalgic here.

We all you used to have to do a turn, we had long curtians , 1 by 1 the curtains would open and there we would entertain...I was about 4 or 5 and would sit praying for it to be my turn, my sisters would moan tell a joke , then I would stand there asking for any request thinking I was Cilla Black..lol

Silly Sausage Report 14 Dec 2008 12:38

Step inside, love, let me find you a place
Where the cares of the day will be carried away
By the smile on your face,
We are together now and forever, come my way.

Step inside, love, and stay
Step inside, love
Step inside, love, step inside, love.

You look tired, love, let me turn down the light,
Come in out of the cold, rest your head on
My shoulder and love me tonight,
I'll always be here if you should need me, night and day.

Step inside, love, and stay
Step inside, love
Step inside, love, step inside, love.

When you leave me, say you'll see me again
For I'll know in my heart we will be not apart
And I'll miss you till then,
We'll be together now and forever, come my way.

Step inside, love, and stay
Step inside, love
Step inside, love, step inside, love,
Step inside, love...
