Texting styles can identify the author.
This is interesting. I came across this information in a magazine and have just done a bit of online research.
I suppose it makes sense and I thought others might find it of interest too.

Hardly
It simply sounds like someone older trying too hard.

Sorry and all that.

Funnily enough we know who is who by the names we use..........original idea I know but the majority of us find it really works!

Failing that we can always check the number!

Personally I find that text language on the phone is only just about acceptable. I spend so long trying to decipher it though that in the end I just delete it!

Text language in any other context is just plain ridiculous. What's the point? If you can type and type in normal language then text language is what - an affectation? laziness? Is it some sort of downgrading or dumbing down of the English language? Is it as stupid and lazy as swearing?

Next thing we know we'll have all the parents up in arms about their little darlings not achieving the requisite number of A levels. Wonder why that will be then? LOL

ah well.........if you like to think otherwise that is your perogative Mel.

But it seems pointless to me. You have already said you are capable of writing normally.

Just don't expect intelligent answers to gibberish lol

So the rest of us are not alternative? We're all boring? Or normal? Or, God forbid, sensible? Don't make me laugh!

Still no excuse for not typing normally on an open forum!

Talking and writing are not the same thing.

Many writers use dialect writing to distinguish one character from another when writing dialogue in novels but it is not normal to use it on forums.

We don't usually alter our spellings to try to show our accents.

We can all be proud or otherwise of where we come from but it might be chaotic if we all did likewise.
