I'm in Cardiff - never heard of QD

You might have something like them Ann but in a different name.

They seem to buy up the stock that other shops can't shift and then sell it at a much more reasonable price..........lables cut off the clothes so you can't see where they came from originally etc.

Rodney Report 18 Nov 2008 21:02

I think you will only find them in East Anglia

We have something similar in my local town of Bridgwater.
It's called Seconds Ahead but I don't think it is one of a chain and I noticed today that it's closing down.

I spotted several shops either closing or gone recently. It looks like the credit crunch is hitting here.

We have a fantastic one called Home Sense and it is the household division of TKMax and they have the most wonderful things there at the most ridiculous prices. Different stuff coming in every day - all sorts - an Aladdins Cave of really must have items

We have Seconds Ahead around Wales

Hello Sue ,

Strangly enough our town seems to be bucking the trend at the moment and at long last our high street is coming back to life.........a walk up there was very dismal a few years ago ( I counted 11 empty shops ) but now there are only a couple of vacant shops.

I hope it dosn't get to gloomy in your area.

Amanda2003 Report 18 Nov 2008 21:46

Ann......thats the sort of thing........you never know what will be in Q.D. ( quality and discount ).....so you just have to go in and see if you can bag a bargin...........lol

We've got a lot of charity shops.

Lots of rather sad empties though. In the past few weeks we've lost MFI, Rosbys and a little craft shop.

I think so Lyndi........but Lathams has a much nicer selection of china / pottery : )

Lyndi

Lyndi Report 18 Nov 2008 21:49

It's a while since I went there, but china was always good. Nearest QD is Gorleston.

Amanda2003 Report 18 Nov 2008 21:50

Sue....Rosebys has just gone bust in the out-of-town shopping place near here.

We have a lot of charity shops too......but I love them and it's better than a shop sitting idle , if the charity shops folded I think most town centres would look grim.........lol

at the moment one secton of Cardiff city centre is undergoing a massive redevelopment - we are getting a John Lewis at last and apparently it's going to be the largest shopping mall in Europe!!!

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 18 Nov 2008 21:53

Wow Ann......there will coach loads heading your way then.

I'd like to visit Cardiff on of these days......not for the shopping.....it's the Land Of My Fathers : )
