Today I have been inundated with mail from this person I do not know. One I opened by accident and must have had 50 other hotmail addresses as a bulk mail.

My hotmail would not let me open attachments. Is someone playing silly buggers with emails???

Is anyone else getting strange emails?????

Hi, Gail,I remember opening one from a bruno lee and was shocked to see a lot of e- mail addys of peeps on here, now I was led to believe we only give out our e- mails to folk we know and trust,I think Hoff over on chat was upset because someone had used his e-mail to send one to someone else, have to say its abit worrying if someone plays stupid games... dont know what we can do about it, btw can anyone read p.ms we send on here?

I get quite a few emails in my junk box. I look to see who they are from, without opening them. Usually they have an African sort of name but occasionally they seem ordinary, but if I dont recognise the name and the subject is something like 'hello' then I dont open it. If it is somebody who is genuine then they should put the subject as something that means something to me. If you know what I mean. eg if you found my email addy and sent me an email you would need to indicate it was something to do with GR or genealogy. I would then ponder for quite some time before deciding whether it was safe to open it.
I am sure yours would be (even if you are an Ozzie!)(Just joking)

I am pretty sure nobody else can read PMs on here. when you get e mails with bulk addresses it is often because you have as an e mail contact somebody who sends out joke e mails and doesn't delete all the addresses on the e mail when they forward it on. I always delete everyone elses e mail address before forwarding.

The did put a last name as well, but I am trying to be polite by not putting that on here just in case somebody has taken anyother Steve's name and using it to send spam mail.

What I find strange is that all the other addresses were hotmail addys.

Have blocked them, checked all address and do not know any of them, so not from any friends.

Was not game to open any attachments as they were all over 3.5 Mega bites. So probably had something nasty attached.

Gail, I had one last saterday from a Steve, claiming to be Shanes cousin, and telling me that Shane had passed away on 17th oct!!!

is this the same one taff then .....

Sue , I just done that, and both addys are from the same persons e-mail addy! Odd as he is supposed to have passed away!!
