Glenys sent me one of those poems, made daughter and I cry but in a nice way.
Spent the last couple of hours with daughter looking at old photos and laughing about her. Daughters friends have just turned up to cheer her up.

Hi Libby, me again. I've just remembered an experience at our local vets some years ago, when a cat owner "loved him so much" she "couldn't bear" to have him put to sleep. He had terminal nasal cancer; we saw the poor creature, and he was in such pain. I'll pm you. x

I feel for you Libby. My son is 14 and we got Harvey when he was 2, he was devastated in March when we had to make the same decision, but you did the right thing, you cannot watch them suffer. My sister bought us a whate rose when he died and it has flowered all summer and is still going strong. Hugs for all of you Pat.

So sorry to hear this
My staffy/lab (also called Bella) had to be put to sleep just under two years ago at the age of 12 and a half. I really do know how you feel, after having a dog that long, a home feels very empty without them. We rescued Harry from the Labrodor Rescue Society six months later (at the age of three)he has lifted our spirits no end. Best Wishes to you and your family

She'll be happy now, at peace, playing with the others at the rainbow bridge..... Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Thinking of you all... Lou xxxx

For you and all Dog lovers.
There’s a certain kind of friendship that is very difficult to beat. And is very rare to find it in the people that you meet. Yet every dog that ever lived has this gift to bestow- A loyal, firm devotion as so many of us know. Though people judge you by your looks, your cash, your job, your car A dog is so much wiser- he accepts you as you are. You can be a saint or sinner, down-and-out or millionaire He’ll not ask to see your pedigree as long as you are there. While those around are planning all their trips to Greece and Spain. With him you’ll find adventure in a romp along the lane. His days are full of pleasure yet his needs are very few. A pat, a dish, a cushion, a ball to fetch for you. If others seem to shun you, maybe think you’re just a bore, He lets you keep on talking, though he’s heard it all before As he settles close beside you with his head upon your knee, For there’s no place in all the world where he would rather be When many may be missing in your hour of need and strife There’s one whose always ready to defend you with his life No matter whether right or wrong, he’ll never criticise, But shows his trusting confidence in clear, adoring eyes. And when his life is ending from the signs that you can tell. That joy has turned to misery and never will get well And the tail that wagged in ecstasy to great you at the door. Is hanging low, and honest eyes are sad and shine no more. It will break your heart to do it for you know you’ll miss him so But when active life is over then it’s kinder to let go. Just make his ending easy and let him die with dignity The way you let him live.
