My daughter in law to be is in the ICU at Congress Hospital in Hastings after being stung by a hornet

Apparently she went into anaphalactic (sp) shock.

My son is on his way down there now. She had gone down to prepare for a horse show tomorrow and we were going down tomorrow morning to see her. Her friends rang us to tell us.

Please think positive thoughts for her.

She is so very dear to us all

My son has just phoned.

She is still in ICU but will recover. Thank God

Apparently the hornet stung her on the back of her neck and that's why she collapsed so quickly. He said she got stung by a wasp a couple of weeks back and felt a bit funny and her arm swelled up really badly. He said to her at the time 'That doesn't seem right to me' but she's one of those no-nonsence girls and insisted that it was o.k.

Richard said that are going to give her one of those 'pens' that you can administer yourself if it ever happens again.

Her friend is actually worse off than her now, they are not sure if they can save her thumb.

Richard is staying the night and seeing what happens tomorrow.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts

Im sure she will be fine Linda....my son has bad reactions to stings and has to carry an epi-pen! Luckily he has not had to use it for about a year but it is amazing how quickly they work.....it is very reassuring to know he has it!!

How awful, I am glad your daughter in law will be ok and hope her friend's thumb can be saved. What will happen to her dogs?

It must be such an awful time for every one, will you still go there tomorrow to see your d.i.l. ?
If so, have a safe journey, and hope you have been able to sleep.

I am so pleased that she will recover.

I really hope that the friend's thumb can be saved.

I know it sounds a bit gruesome but sometimes if a thumb is lost surgeons will remove a big toe and transplant that instead. That then gives back the use of the hand and a toe isn't really missed. I hope it doesn't come to that though.
