I was speaking with Liz (the Purple one) the other night and she mentioned that she stopped wearing stockings a couple of years into her relationship.

That got me thinking about how many of us dress for others rather than ourselves, especially in the underwear department.

I personally wear holdups (like stockings but without the belt) but I do that for me NOT any man. I find them much more comfotable and convenient, especially if I ladder one leg - always buy more then one pair the same so I always have spare legs - so to speak.

So anyone want to enter this discussion on under garments ?

Had one pair of stockings once to look sexy for OH, I looked in the mirror - not a pretty site.

Wear special elastic stockings now knee length -very unsexy and hot in the summer. A complete turn off for anybody! :(

In my younger days, as was the fashion at the time I wore fully fashioned, seamed stockings from Aristoc, as they were our town's main employer, and you got staff discounts. There was three females in our household at the time, all wearing them. So, when there was plenty of 'odd' ones, mum would boil them up together, to get them to the same colour, and then pair them up, and share them out between us
But one girl that we worked with had a sister in the Church Army, and they wore grey. So, when we were told there was a supply of grey available, we all gave up a pair each out of our allowance, for our friend's sister.
Then we went onto tights, as the factory moved with the times and installed machines to make these. Remember 'American Tan'.
In later life, I moved onto 'pop-socks', but as the years have progressed, they proved not too be good for the leg circulation.
However, as I go out very little these days because of health problems, I find it easier to wear jeans for the warmth, and socks, when really cold.
However, I do have one exception to this, and I will never alter. On Christmas Day, we go out to an old Deckensian type pub for our dinner. I get on my finest glad-rags, and the crown jewels, so to speak. But, I always, but always, wear a pair of 7 ot 10 denier, black hold- ups, preferably Aristoc.
But now you have bought the subject of hold-ups to mind, I am going to look for some this week, to wear under my jeans for extra warmth this winter.

I tend to wear trousers or jeans and socks because I find it more comfortable. If I go out in the evening i wear 'posher' trousers and pop socks. If I wear a skirt I wear tights.

Liz, and I no longer wear the skimpies either BJ for me too!!!

Glad I am not alone lol

I used to be a leggings and big sweater girl lol real chav eh? Was when I was slimmer tho and wore chunky socks and boots out with them, if it was really cold I would wear old tights underneath, but the leggings were so practical when I was childminding and then doing cleaning/care work too and I could wear layers under the sweaters.
Well a couple of years ago I bought some nice skirts, rough texture cotton (hard to explain) they were gypsy style and had a half lining of cotton too. They looked good in the summer but also good in winter with boots and I wore my old tights with thinning crotches underneath instead of tights as they didn't show with the boots, were warmer but healthier than tights and got more wear out of the leggings that couldn't be used on their own. It was such a comfy set up. I don't do jeans, they have never suited me so I suppose if I have bought ten pairs in my life, that would be it. I do have some for wearing at the coast in winter as again I wear them over the old leggings for warmth - I feel the cold a lot - but in summer I always go barelegged, have to start rethinking now it's getting colder so will be getting some more of those big tights as comfy and warm and chucking some of the old leggings. I do still do the chav bit sometimes with the leggings and big jumpers but only round the house, no central heating so need to be warmly dressed. He hasn't suggested putting the gas fire on yet so have to have a blanket over my knees some evenings, and a fleece jacket on. He has his recliner so his feet are up but mine on the floor get the draught from his rubbish patio doors as they don't fit well and only have vertical blinds across, no curtains. Even his son complains when he visits that it is cold and draughty but o.h. doesn't feel the cold, no sense, no feeling lol
I am more interested in being warm and comfy now, than seduction gear, the 'reward?' isn't worth the discomfort or effort lol
