What age should kids be told? My 5 yr old grandson was asking his Dad a few questions.
One being was he in his mums tummy same time as his wee brother etc. He knows about a 'seed' but then asked his Dad if he had to put compost in his mums b*m to make it grow. :))))
I think he left it at that, couldn't speak for tears of laughter running down his face.

Reminds me of the time when a friend of mine was answering my son's question on childbirth. He listened very attentively (he was about 5 or 6) and then asked "When I was born did mummy have to take her jeans off?"

I think if a child asks a question then he or she deserves a sensible answer but aimed at the age they are. They don't need to know everything all at once!

He did Marion - he did ... lots of embarassing questions over the years (he's 29 now!). I followed what my mum did for us which was to answer the question as honestly as possible. Not to go any further than the answer mind 'cos sometimes he had asked the wrong question and it just confused things!

I was really glad when he reached the awful teenage phase of not wanting to talk about that sort of stuff - what a relief that was!

My son (grandsons Dad) was about 6, came in from school one day and told us he knew what sex and babies was,he then went on and told us..the basics lol.
A girl in his class told him but wasnt very fussy in the words she used lol.

I had always said I would tell him the truth when he asked but chickened out and told his Dad to take him and tell him.

Well, if you had seen they way he looked at me for days after. and as for his grandparents oh my!...they didn't did they..he said lol.

LOL my son was 7 and i was pregnant with my 3rd baby when he first asked me about babies i was so shocked cant remember what i said.. but a few weeks later he asked me the question again..... so i started to explain the frogspawns!! and he left it at that but every few weeks he asked me another question then another question.. i think he probably was about 9 when he stopped asking but when he does i try to be as honest as i can.... hes 11 now.

my parents never told me anything at all.. think thats why i rather be honest as i can

I was never told anything by my parents ,except there was a little brown book in the private box.But it was all to do with insects and frogs or something.Nothing to do with humans.I learnt everything from friends, even that was a bit cockeyed.!!I found out eventually by myself.!!!

He went on to explain that I would probably find his bed saturated but not to worry as it was normal .
Straight faced he then said did I know what an erection was .I said yes and asked if he ever had one .Yes he replied it comes up on a monday and goes down on a friday !!!!!!
