Registration of births wasn't compulsary until (I think) 1875 but I have births a few years after that that weren't registered - best try for baptisms. |

I have baptisms for Lepton but not found him and I had same thought that he may not have been registered.Forgot to mention that Edgar's father Henry died in 1866,he used Henry;s name as father on marriage cert. |

Um, if he was born in 1871, then his father can't have died in 1866, looks like some porkies were told in the family maybe? |

GRO and Huddersfield Registrar's have checked all dates around 1871 but none matching the parents names I gave them,I have death cert for Henry and burial dates in family vault. |

I think someone is lying about Henry being the dad if he died in 1866, it's just not physically possible. |
