I have just asked the same question on the Tips Board. I will leave it there in case anybody else is looking at that board and not this one.

Windows did an update thing when I was ready to close last night. Could it be their fault?

Good morning all, my AVG seems to be fixed now. I hope yours are all ok. A good nights sleep for me fixed it (or the people the other end while I was sleeping).

Fix works for me, maybe it only works in AUS. Ah well.

We found that AVG was wanting us to update to a paying version.
We deleted AVG and switched to Comodo antivirus with Spy Bot for spyware.

No they are both free and seem to work well.

I just asked husband and he has made a donation to Spybot but it wasn't compulsory but we find it good.

Comodo is excellent and updates itself without any bother.
