Rose, hi hon, that is awful, what about the other people in the block of flats, surely they won't want a horse under their windows etc! Maybe you should ring the Environmental Health people, if they work over the weekend, which I should think they do, even if an emergency number or you could ring the Police and ask if a horse has been reported stolen from anywhere. Would make them come and have a look perhaps.
There are some idiots about, for sure!

If the orse is in a comunial garden go and ride it or lease it for rides. Collect the fertilizer in sacks and sell to rose growers. Plant some grass on it and call the police!

Ring up your local newspaper, there will be reporters about, even on a Sunday and the publicity might make them move it somewhere or get rid of it.
Call the International Horse Protection League, now has a new name World Horse Welfare.
see below:

If you see a horse in distress call us on; 08000 480180
All other enquiries please call 01953 498682

In the UK we have a team of 16 Field Officers who investigate over 1500 welfare concerns every year reported through our welfare hotline 08000 480180. We run four Recovery & Rehabilitation Centres holding a total of about 300 horses at any one time & we have over 1700 horses in approved homes through our loan scheme.

VIVinHERTS Report 25 May 2008 02:42

Rose,

Contact the local council/housing association, environmental health, rspca (again) and IHPL.

The horse should be ok eating grass so long as it doesn't get colic but it needs water, and shelter although it is now too warm to put a rug on it.
It will also need grooming and the manure removed.

From what you have said, this seems very unlikely so I would be taking photos and documenting what is going on.
Lets us know how you get on with the authorities and how the horse is doing.

TaniaNZ Report 25 May 2008 07:39

I agree with kay
surely you want to establish it is actually there for more than a night before you worry.
i would whip down and ask them what there intentions are

kay Report 25 May 2008 08:49

I agree with everybody, but definately ring council and report this.
If this is elderly peoples residence,I would have thought that the last thing they want is a horse in their garden.
Although I can see the funny side,It might be distressing for some.
