I ordered a birth cert of BMD, for £25, was told it would take 15 working days to arrive, as yet i had not recieved it!(ordered 22/4/08)
so I e-mailed them asking where it was, and hey ho they couldnt find me!!!
I have just spoken to the registrar of the district and was told this is not exactly breaking the law, but within an inch of it!
So please learn by my mistake and DONT send off for any certs,. via BMD office!!

and now,!!! BMD are offering me a £14.55 refund, !!!
so its cost me £10 for sod all!!!

Sorry, for asking....but a birth certificate costs £7 from the GRO or a local office.......

You don't have to say, obviously, but is there a reason why you had to pay so much...?

to say, I'me fflipping gutted is an understatement!
have just shot them a e-mail, but that will go straight over their heads , as they've made a £10 off me for nothing!!!

I got a next day reply from North Tyneside last week.

You should never ever pay more than £7 for any certificate. I bet you dont do that again!

Just had an e-mail saying my refund was sent this morning after I querried it!!
Better not ask where my £10 has been used!!!!LOL

Taff, I'd fire another email off asking how can they refund you if no record of you!!! Sounds like lame excuse on their part to me.

Should get certificate for zilch, full refund.

Shimmy, they have my e-mail addy!! and all details, but the reistrars office says they are exactly not breaking the law, because the havent actually ripped me off , just not provided the cert I ask for!!

Taff, sorry you have been caught out. you really should not need to pay more than £7 for any certificate unless you need it priority. You can order on line from the GRO as long as you have references and it will only cost £7.

that is a lot of money to pay, am sure they would not have tripled price in 5 yrs.
