If so, what's the best way to do it?
I have pressed a rose from my Dad's funeral. I want to frame it if possible.

If it is thick you will need a deep frame, sort of like a small glass case with a frame on the front. I have not framed them but have pressed flowers. make sure it is thoroughly dried out or it will go mildew.
Expect it to lose its colour.

I know the frames you mean.
It's pretty flat. I wondered if I put it in a frame tight aginst the glass if it would be ok.

I have three other roses I pressed years ago. My son bought me them after he was on a night out..P***ed lol. They seem to have kept their colour, they are just sitting in a cupboard.

Anyone else tried it?

You can get special drying granules - cannot remember off hand what they are called. You then leave the flower in it unti it is dry. You can also use the same granules in the microwave to quicken the process - but when I tried it once - notice the once - I had a burnt offering of a flower!!!!

You could also disect the rose and dry each petal out separately and then re-arrange.

Like someone else mentioned you will need to keep it out of sunlight.

A very dear friend died recently and I had several of her books.One was a prayer book that belonged to her mother that must be over 100 years old.
I looked in it the other day and three,four-leafed clovers fell out.
I hope that is a sign from my Audrey.

they will have kept their colour because they are in the dark. you can but try a smaller frame if it is flat. As long as it is dry.
I don't know why but the books seem to suggest that you use a latex adhesive.
they also suggest with roses that you take them apart, dry then re-assemble but I guess it is too late for that.

Yes a bit late now it's flat as a pancake. It wasnt even open when I put it in,seemed a good idea at the time.
The ones I have are in a glass cabinet,so they get a fair bit of light.

My friend had her wedding flowers professionally pressed & framed but they have faded a bit.

I asked my Mum to press my flowers as we were whizzing off on honeymoon at 5am. When I came back she had pressed the bouquet - whole - between 2 books


















with the oasis still attached !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We also had some wedding cake over which was sponge so I asked to put it in the freezer - which she did







along with the flowers - which were made of material & not edible!!!

I framed a rose about 7 years ago. I didnt know how to do it myself but it appears ok - I left it pressed under a very heavy book for a few months I cant recall exactly how long with a piece of paper either side.

I had one of those little silver coloured frames you know like an animal with a piece of glass in the middle just a bit bigger than the rose.

I put the rose in - the back was tight but one of those plush backs with the screws so screwed it in and its been sat on a high shelf in my bedroom for years. I forget its there till I have to dust it and no damage yet to the rose or colour.

Sounds promising Maddie.I'll leave to get well and truly pressed, it's in a book under a 56Ib anvil lol, and will keep an eye open for a frame.

lol Marion - OH does smithing as a Hobby so I know how blinky heavy those things are!

My Dad was an iron moulder, not sure if he made it or not,but I inherited it anyway. Thought I would use it for something since I dont have a wee horse to shoe lol
