Sharron

Sharron Report 9 May 2008 23:00

A cockchafer the size of a flying cart-horse has just come lumbering in through my window.

Oh Sharron they are horrible things - hate them with a passion. I once woke up to find one in my bed - I dont have bedroom windows open now - just suffocate in the heat LOL.

They are just sooo huge and ugly brutes with it.
*shudders*

Don't have them here in Oz but we have other things just as scary. How are you, Sharron? I have been keeping up with your other thread and I think you have done a wonderful job.

Yes and when you go to the loo in the middle of the night and switch the bathroom light on and you are half asleep they frighten the wits out of you as they make a right noise flying into the glass.

Oh dear, I was waiting for them to begin arriving looks like they are here.

maggiewinchester Report 10 May 2008 01:27

Daughter phoned me tonight - one the size of an elephant in her bathroom.
I couldn't believe it - (not the size) - daughter afraid of a stupid rampant male cockchafer (think on that name LOL) that can hardly fly!!!
I had to 'talk her through' removing it!!!

Sharron Report 10 May 2008 09:22

Just found him sitting in my fruit bowl.I like them,he is very beautiful, shiny brown bloke. He can sit there safe until tonight and I will put him back out to go cockchafing else where.
Thank you for the compliment Sue,I am sitting up and taking a little light nourishment, well quite a lot of light nourishment actually, but perhaps not from the fruit bowl today!

Uggers Report 10 May 2008 09:29

If that had been me I think I would have jumped straight out of the window, Sharron. Viv's right they are evil and should have died out with things like witches and village idiots...

Jac

Jac Report 10 May 2008 12:25

We had one in our kitchen last year, and it frightened the bejebas out of me!!

Hubby carefully caught it in a glass, put it in a match-box and drove a mile to the canal and let it go!! frigging thing was back before he was!!

Sandal to the ready and splatt!! No more chaffing for that one!

Carole Report 10 May 2008 13:21

We get them as well didn't know what they were until we moved into this house, and they started to come down the chimney. Had to get a neighbour in to see it (safely kept under a glass) and remove it

Joanna Report 10 May 2008 13:25

It is that time of year again!
I am doing the rounds of the smaller open windows of the house, putting fly netting over them.
My elder son was woken up by a wasp buzzing round his ear yesterday morning and was not happy!
Cockchafers we do not need.
