This familiar beetle has a black thorax, rusty brown elytra (wing cases) and brown legs. It has characteristic antennae that fan out. |

Are any of you confusing cockchafer with incubus? He's a handsome brown fellow with lovely big bushy antennae and he is resting quietly in the fruit bowl.He doesn't smell or sting.I don't know what he eats but there is still fruit left in the bowl.Wish I hadn't told you now,so there! |

We get them as well didn't know what they were until we moved into this house, and they started to come down the chimney. Had to get a neighbour in to see it (safely kept under a glass) and remove it |

If that had been me I think I would have jumped straight out of the window, Sharron. Viv's right they are evil and should have died out with things like witches and village idiots... |

Yes and when you go to the loo in the middle of the night and switch the bathroom light on and you are half asleep they frighten the wits out of you as they make a right noise flying into the glass. |
