Hi Teresa

I did see the thread but didn't read it.

I didn't for one minute think it was there to offend anyone.

I know for sure you wouldn't do anything like that.

Hi Teresa,
I read your thread,it didnt upset me,perhaps I should have added to it.
My darling Mum had Dementia, and died just over a year ago.
Someone sent me that joke, just after Mum had died,
not knowing of course.
Through the tears,I laughed, because it is so true.

The rawness of seeing a loved one suffering with this dreadfull disease is immeasurable, but through it all life has to go on,through laughter, tears.

Talking about it and seeing the humour certainly helps me, and so many others come to terms with this.

I know my own mother would have laughed, long before her own illness.

So you did not offend me at all.

Keep on posting.

Trish

Theresa, forget about it, I didn't read it but am sure you would not have deliberately set out to offend anyone on the boards, none of us would hopefully. It happens sometimes and you would be sorely missed as one of the regular posters on Chat and General, so do us a favour and pop back in please.

Hi Teresa

I saw your thread but I didn't read it either..wish I had now.

My Dad died last August and he had Dementia as did his eldest brother.

My Mum's only surviving sister has it too as does one of her brother-in-laws.

My cousins and I keep in contact and we support one another as we all have had to suffer the same emotions of watching one of our parents suffer from this awful disease.

We laugh (and cry) on the phone when talking to each other because of the things that have been said by my uncle and aunty. You have to...to be able to deal with it. It doesn't mean that you stop loving them, far from it. It just helps ease the situation..for a while.

Laughter is the best medicine...after all.

Thank you everyone, i will have a think about returning, but i still feel like i have upset a few people unintentionally. I obviously got carried away yesterday posting what i thought were humerous threads i was wrong. ( that's not to say that that particular thread was meant to be humerous or to take the mickey out of someone who suffers from dementia. I know it is a very serious illness and not to be laughed at ). So sorry again.

I didn't see it,but if it was somebody who has this problem in their family, was upset about it,they should think on all other threads that can upset people.

Having just lost my father a lot of threads jumped out at me. Did I report them? no cause life goes on and we should be able to discuss what we like. If we dont like it,dont read it.

Teresa Don't worry so much.
My Mum has only just recently been diagnosed with Dementia and I wasn't offended either, neither was she.
WE british are quite good at laughing at ourselves and it's one of the things that sets us apart from other cultures.
We have a sense of humour and are capable of not taking life too seriously.
Keep us smiling.

Hi Teresa,

I added to your thread as I thought it really funny.
I have had too many dealings with family and dementia and wasn't the slightest bit offended.

Please carry on posting as your threads yesterday brightened me no-end.
