Before Easter eldest has swimming test & was presented with the Bronze :-) - we were so proud

First swimming class today -"teacher" says he shouldn't have got the bronze - his name should have been crossed out - like it was my fault!

She then tried to make him swim 5 metres underwater - as there were no markers underwater he couldn't work out how far he had to go so failed - so has to stay down a class for the term :-((((

He has been so sad :-(((((

How cruel.....................I tell you what, go to a shop that sells trophies and buy a little one and get his name engraved on it.

Anyone who can swim deserves a trophy................I'm terrified of the water.

I wouldn't pay her any more money.............just let your husband take him and give him a trophy when he reaches a target you set him.

She sounds a complete bully to me.

Hi Penny,

Well I think that teacher was very unkind. Swimming takes lots of strength, stamina and courage to do and anyone who can swim a set distance or do a specific water based activity deserves a reward.

I am a swimmer (and have been since the age of 6 despite my disability). Back in the early 90's I decided I wanted to do do a spondored swim to raise money for Gt Ormond Street Hospital. It was not an organised event with others, it was just something I wanted to do.

I managed to swim a mile (64 lengths of a regular pool). I was very proud of my efforts and brought myself a small trophy and had the distance, year and and my name engraved on it to remember the occasion.

Your son deserves this too.

Well done young man, I am sure you will continue to make great achievements in your sport.

Hi Fi - how are you & well done

She didn't ask for his badges back - but I have paid for them !! Just puts the dampeners on it all & he's working towards nothing now this term!

He doesn't find life easy really & my heart really goes out to him - his friend is now the group above him & he thought he was as good as him in something :-(

Hear hear Fi!

Well if that's what a private club is like I am glad I dont belong to one.

Hope he gets on despite what the lady had said and show them all.

Kitty, like you, I am terrified of the water.

How is she a teacher when she is such a cruel person?
She should be teaching the kids how to be nice to other people, not how how to upset them.
CRUELLA should be her name as from now.
Your poor son. Hope he get his bronze and better soon.
He did better than I ever did at school.

Good luck to him

When I was at school (many eons ago) lol was chosen to swim in the relay race (because I could manage to swim one length).

Well my turn came and *jump* into the deep end and disappeared, when I eventually came up choking and coughing for air everybody else was half way up the pool so there was me drowning but made an effort to swim the length, much to the amusement and laughter of the whole school. I have not forgotten it.

So anybody who can swim and underwater to me is a real hero, so there! lol

Hi Penny, how could she do that it is cruel, if she made a mistake by not crossing his name off, she should own up to her incompetence and let him keep it, it makes you mad, feel like getting her by the scruff of the neck and throwing her in, i know thats the wrong attitude to take, children have feelings.
