I picked up an amazing old lacy cloth from a charity shop - I hurl that over a plain dark cloth - looks lovely. So look out for one of those and buy a single sheet in a darker colour to co-ordinate with the room. |

I was folding up my threadbare tablecover and thinking the same thing Jeanette........I usually use it under a big lace tablecover.....but if the leaves are put in then I use one or two white sheets with coloured paper tablecloths (from a supermarket) in a diamond pattern over the top and when the table is laid it looks lovely..... |

That's another thing Sally....I always buy those paper cloths at Christmas and they've always fitted my table, but the one I bought this year didn't. Wonder if it was a different make? |

Rosalind.......thanks for the tip.....and thanks for the thread Jeanette......what a help.....that direct linen has a simple guide to measure exactly what you need.....in inches, and centimeters.......and has all shapes and sizes......so I will buy one from there......but Sunday, when the table is out to its full length......it is back to the sheets and paper tablecloths..... |

Hiya I expect I am too late, but I made a table cloth for my table -as it is rather a large one like yours with white lining fabric - it was satiny looking and I edged it with lace. Then I used a smaller table cloth on top at an angle (if you know what I mean) on top of that. It looked really effective and by the time I had place mats and cutlery etc on - it looked quite stunning and friends commented on it too. |
