Our government has discussed an plan

to send our troublesome youths

abroad to work in poor countries

to work to improve the environment

instead of sending them to jail or borstals

what do you think

50/50 - it might shock some of them into realising how fortunate they are - but on the other hand if it did not - the poor countries have enough on their hands already.

In theory it would get them away from the environment they cause trouble in and could do a useful job helping others.

But..............how much will it cost and what happens if the parents refuse to let them go?

They need to do something.

Maybe if they saw the way others have to live and what they have to put up with,they would think twice about some of the thing's they do.

oh yes send them by the ship load,,,to areas with no tv.no electric.hardly any water,no moble phones and where there is nothing to rob from anyone,or damage proprety,,,,will they learn a hard lesson,,,,,,,,,doubtful of some,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes and if their parents cant or in some cases dont bother to control them,then somebody has to put a stop to their behaviour.

I think it would do some of them a lot of good and as you say Joy, they could get some training or at least an interest in something.

Or they should be doing something in this country.

I thought our wonderful government had a 'Community Service' plan in operation in THIS country.
Unfortunately, doing anything remotely useful, like clearing the rubbish off the sides of motorways is deemed too dangerous for the darlings. There is plenty for them to do in this country -they could bus them to different areas to get them away from their own district, without going to the expense of US paying for their passports, air fare and accommodation!!!

Well I suppose years ago they would all have had to do National Service. And some say this knocked sense into some of the naughty teenagers.

I suppose Boot Camp would be a good idea, but then we'd have to spend money building these places and furnishing them in luxurious taste, so the little darlings wouldn't suffer too much.
So, in that case, YES, send the naughtly blighters to a poor underprivileged country where their hard work and contribution will be of use.
They might actually benefit from a sense of achievement and humility.

Send 'em, and send 'em quick. One way tickets a good idea for the worst cases!!. The UK is too soft which is why they're so naughty and uncontrollable in the first place.

Has anyone actually asked the countries they're supposed to be sent to if they want them there?

If they send kids abroad maybe they should send some of the parents with them.
When i was young my parents took charge to make me toe the line.
Now they just leave them to god and good neighbours out of sight out of mind

I can see both sides of it. But if we deport them is that just shifting the problem rather than fixing it?
