Hi Maggie, frogs are an endangered species we used to have a lot but haven't seen one yet this year, don't mind them we used to have them swing on the weather board at the bottom of the door but daughter when visiting would run a mile if she saw one.

May.

Just been googling and think they are definately frogs not toads.

Teresa, it has just been raining which probably explains why they are hopping all over the garden. Haven't seen any frogspawn yet this year, but we seem to have at least a dozen frogs in our tiny garden!

I don't mind them too much May, apart from the noise, but I'm a little bit scared of treading on one!

Though you might like to read this tale.

2 years ago there seemed to be a shortage of female frogs and it was every male frog trying to 'catch' a female in my pond.

The trouble was the male frogs seemed to er..umm..gang b**g my goldfish by mistake!

They literally killed one goldfish by grabbing it around the gills so it couldn't breath and I had to peel 3 others of another goldfish!

Their grip was so tight that I had to get my daughter to hold the 'group' whilst I literally pulled each frogs legs away from my goldfish.

I just wished I had taken a photo! Talk about queer!

It's good to have frogs and toads in the garden as they eat slugs and snails.

Maggie beware...if you tread on one it will scream!

Teresa,

dont they just scream........if our cat corners one in the garden,,,it puts its little leg over its eyes and screams like mad,,,,,,,,,,,so funny,,,,,,,,,,,

frogs dont need water to spawn in either ,as long as its wet and damp,,,,,,,,,

I've got several pairs in my pond....unfortunatly my youngest cat Lunar has discovered the joys of frog hunting........I had to dash out into the garden a few hours ago to save another one......she has killed a couple already
......good job they do scream as that is what usually alerts me.
I keep the spawn in a little pond so that the fish don't eat it all.

TTeresa, frogs do squeeze fish to kill them sort of getting their own back for eating their sporn the way of nature I suppose, that's why OH has his koi pond covered with mesh on a frame.

Our frogs have been at it in the pond and what a racket, we now have loads of frogs spawn on the top of the pond. I do love Frogs and Toads especially when they are little.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

One reason why not to have a pond in me garden.
Cant stand the blessed things - frogs that is! Puts a shiver down me spine. I was gardening once and one came hopping out of the undergrowth - nearly had a heart attack - screamed - chucked garden hoe down - and came running into the house with me skirts up round by me arse - it was a sight to see!! LOL

Tina, lol.......I have been known to do the gardening with my jeans tucked into my boots/socks. I don't mind them, but I'm scared of them jumping up my trouser leg!!

They seem to hide behind my garage at different times of the year, ready to pounce!!

Hi Maggy, sorry went off on another site, didn't think anybody would be up !

My sister and I were sat in her garden one summer evening and all of a sudden we heard this huge amplified croak. There was frog/toad in a pipe covering the fish pond - it scared the living daylights out of the pair of us at first. We got used to it after a while.

Best thing to do is tuck your jeans in, personally I would have taped them as well LOL.
