She has to go into hospital on Monday for an operation to repair a gigantic (specialist' description) hiatus hernia. It's going to be done keyhole under general anesthetic, but he has pointed out to Mum that this is still major surgery as he will be operating extremely close to her heart and lungs. Assuming all goes well she will be home again on Tuesday. I so want it all to go well as she has suffered for many years with this problem.

Good luck to your Mum, Pauline, she will be so glad to get this problem sorted out at last and I am sure the specialist wouldn't do it if he wasn't sure of a good outcome. Keep us posted please.

Pauline I will keep your mum in my prayers..... an operation is never a great experience but she is going to be fine.

She is just very lucky to have an honest surgeon. He has given her all the pit falls, but he is still doing it!!
Good luck to your mum.
Who do you have someone to sit with you while you are waiting.... with your imagination?? ;-0)

Mum went to theatre about 12.30, and the op will take about 2 hours. Just got to wait now. I'm sure she will be fine, but it diesn't stop the worrying.

Glad to report that Mum's op seems to have gone well. I have spoken very briefly to her on the bedside phone which was a relief. My sister works at the hospital, and she says that Mum is very groggy which is to be expected, and sore. We hope that she will come home tomorrow all being well.

Thanks so much for your support.
