If Douglas was indeed one of 8 brothers, then I don't think the one born in Bengal is the right man. (Unless 6 of the brothers aren't showing on Ancestry.)

A tree on Ancestry (for what that's worth) says Agnes's husband was born in London 1884 - but no proof given.

No sign of any such birth, apart from this one:

MCDONALD, DOUGLAS ALLAN mms YARROW
GRO Reference: 1883 S Quarter in LAMBETH Volume 01D Page 494

But Agnes's husband has no middle initial at marriage, and spells his surname differently.

Other parts of that tree seem correct, and supported by documentation.

Everything I've posted fits with the 1945 marriage, IMO, apart, perhaps, from the birth, which isn't vital at this stage

The man born 1883 wasn't the poster's grandfather - her grandfather was born in 1919 and married in 1945

And she had TWO grandfathers

The Douglas born in Lambeth 1883 has siblings:

Donald 1882, Alexander 1880, Jessie Violet 1888, Ivy 1892, Noel Iris 1895.

So not him, if the 8 brothers story is correct.

im looking at the MacDonald, Hastwell,Clarke, Shipton and kirby family all from Essex
