Hi Does any one have any info on Nazareth House Romsey, it was a childrens home, my uncle was there up until 1947, when he was shipped to Australia as a child migrant.. Thanks Jo

Jo, My mother was in a Nazareth Home but in Plymouth. We've been lucky enough to locate her records from her time there (albeit very little!) The stories of the nuns treatment of the children in all their homes is horrific. My mother never speaks about it!

Just googled it and found an Ask Your Neighbour site where someone was asking for info.... is it you maybe?? Anyway, looks like it may have been in Melchett Hall in Sherfield English which is just outside Romsey. I could be completely wrong, but I seem to recognise Nazareth House from my time at Sunday school, so I wonder if they were a Christian charity that ran children's homes around the country. Sally.

This is also shown as last address - Reverend Mother, Nazereth House, Romsey - against twentyone (21!) records on passenger list of 'Ormonde' from London 10 Oct 1947 to Fremantle 7 Nov 1947.

Probably unlikely that anyone with knowledge of Nazareth a house will see your post given that it has been 20 years since the previous post.

Virtually the entire passenger list comprised children from various Nazareth House locations all round GB

This may well be one of the Romsey inmates - who were all male.
