Bernice, There's only one marriage reference for a Florence Garland to a George Britton isn't there? You have to stick with the facts and that means using the names from the son's birth cert. You can't make assumptions using census records. Forget about the Florence Maud Garland. There's no mention of the name Maud on the birth cert or the obvious marriage a few years before. That, plus Florence Maud is still single and with her parents in 1901. What was Herbert's full name? Perhaps his middle name might be a clue. What is the address listed on the birth cert? Crista |

Hope Im not going to confuse matters here.Might there be 2 Florence Mauds with 2 years age difference. My grandmother had a neice with the same name,born in the same place but only 6 years in their ages. Perhaps this is the case here. Margaret |

Bernice If you're only getting your info from Ancestry, then there might still be another birth for a Florence Garland in the Bristol area on the index (try 1837online or familyrelatives). Ancestry is not complete and therefore can't be taken as definite without checking the complete indexes. Chloe |

Hi ALL, Many thanks for all your help, Crista, On Herbert's birth cert Florence is just florence, his full name is Herbert Wilfred George Britton, Their were more children and the youngest was named Maud, this was leaning me towards the Florence Maud bit, the other thing is if you look on the threads above it will show you that Florence is just florence on one census and then on another she is florence m.....same one... I will be sending off for their marriage cert shortly and hope that this will help out. cheers, x |
