Anybody else want to have a go at this one Am now trying to establish a link between the only Blaylock born Middleton same as Elizabeth who in 1851 census was a servant in Durham St Giles born approx 1825 died 1854 who could possibly be Williams mother as her parents were William Blaylock and Mary Bell therefore if Mary Bell and Elizabeth Bell were sisters this could be the missing link ?? Am I just trying to make a connection where there isnt one ?? Any ideas - back later Ann

Hi Ann I've read somewhere that about a third of all BMDs between 1837 and 1875 were not registered. I have several marriages that I cannot find a record of. Also, my Mother's friend never knew exactly when she was born (C1902!!) as her parents could not afford the registration fee and it was only when they heard that inspectors were checking up in their area and fining miscreants that they went and registered her as a new-born and she was actually a toddler!! She only found this out when she had to get her birth cert for a passport when she was in her 70s and the birth year did not agree with the age she was certain she actually was.
