I have them in the 1901 and 1891 census just can't find them in the 1881. Where were the parents born? They seem Irish to me............ Reg

Hi Reggie, Sorry about that I am not used to these English Records, just got 3 days on Ancestry free. Anyway Thomas Collins was born in Ireland and Mary Ann Collins nee Duffy was born in Scotland. Children all born in England. Betty

children born anywhere more specific than England - it would be helpful if you know. OK, all the children say Blackhill durham as a BP

Hi Gillian, No they are all the one family, Thomas and Mary Ann married in Durham in 1866. Betty

The mother Mary Ann Duffy was born in Scotland in 1848 the census is wrong about her age. Betty

Hi Betty, If Mary Ann is 43 in 1901 she would have been born c1858, so she cannot have married in 1866. ???

I have the marriage certicate of Thomas and Mary Ann marriage in 1866 in Durham. Betty

Mary Ann was just 18 when she married in Durham in 1866. Betty

I guess you looked at these? It does say on the image that Thomas is born in Ireland, (but also that Mary is too). Names are not all true to the 1891, but the children are all born in Durham.)
