Hi Georgina Yes Thanks I have those too, but I also have the OPR'S on the igi- If you key in the batch number c116242 with a parent search on igi they will come up- They all say 'Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the birth or christening date. ' The source record states that they are fro OPR'S Gets confusing this genealogy lark doesn't it! Simone

Simone I am stumped on their marriage but you could be right about Grace being Grizzel because it seems they had a daughter Grissel in 1805 & then named their next child Grizzel (the first probably died) so maybe she was known as Grace. Going back to the census where you have James as a Collier what occupation is on his other children's marriage certificates? Georgina.

Hi Georgina I have James as an Engineer on all the census 1841,1851, and 1861 and his son John's marriage cert, however I have John's Birth from the OPR'S and it states he was born to James Bruce, Collier and Grace Pollock- I did wonder if he was an Engineer at the Colliery, after all they would have had to use machinery and wagons to carry the goods. Simone it might be worth you getting in touch with the Rutherglen Family History Society, I read on here the other day that someone could not locate a marriage on scotlands people & the local history society found it straight away. Georgina.
