I am trying to confirm a marriage between William Johnson and Jane? in 1848 in Greenwich. I applied to GRO but they could find no record. Jane was born in Ireland in 1819. I do not have her surname. Please help. |

If the births of any of the children were registered, Jane's maiden name will be on the cert(s) |

Looking at the childrens ages on the 1861 census it may have been a second marriage. You need to buy a birth cert of one of the children to find the mother maiden name if we can't find a marriage. |

Frederick seems to be the first child born in Northumberland in 1848. |

I did find most of the census records that are mentioned above. William was a career solider. He joined the Royal Horse Artillery and reached the rank of Sergeant. He was a wheelwright.. He served in a lot of different places including Ireland and the Crimea and I believe he finished his service at Woolwich Arsenal. |

I would say you really need that birth cert that Jacqueline put up for Martha. Then we could possible find the marriage. |
