I am seeking the parents/siblings of Martha Bailey. Her daughter's birth cert states that she was born at Onneley but I can find no trace. I believe that in the 1881 Census, she is a domestic servant in the household of farmers Thomas and Margaret Rawes, Whitmore |

Martha Bailey is the mother of Lucy Jane Bailey whose birth certificate I have-Lucy was born at Onneley Aug 1881. Martha is listed as her mother but there is no father's name given. Martha is described as a domestic servant and the 1881 Census shows her as a domestic servant at the farm of the Rawes family, Maer/Whitmore. Can find no certain trace of Martha before or after 1881.Thanks for the reply |

There is this marriage, which is in Madeley, very near Onneley, but as yet there is no provable connection to your Martha. |

Census 1901 note Martha's birthplace is now Onneley, which ties in with Martha's birthplace as given in the 1881 census record Sandra mentioned. |

You could send for Martha's marriage cert which would probably give father Samuel's occupation and make it easier to cross reference with the census. |

Maybe my possible sighting in 1871 previously posted was not such a red herring after all? |

Don't blame you MC, but that seems to have been a looseness in transcription, there's nothing on the original image , only the first child is described as a scholar there. |

I have to head off for work now, but maybe someone else could look into the family of Samuel and Eliza Bailey before and after 1861? |
