I have a family David Robb born c 1801 Fife, Scotland and Married Christian Lawrie or Laurie also b 1801 in 1826. They seem to have had six children between 1827and 1841, 5 of whom were alive in the 1851 census but they appear in no later Scottish Census. I suspect they emigrated. Can anyone more experienced than I look up emigration records please? The children were Catharine 1827, Christian 1832, David 1834, Thomas 1837 and Agnes 1841. Obviously there may be later children. |

Don't think so Mel. Agnes was born at Dysart. I think the actual birthplace in that document would be Strathkinness. It is possible that they could have split up as a family but i'm still hopeful they remained together and emigrated. Thanks. |

Thanks FLIP. At the date of departure the two remaining daughters Catharine would be 26 or 27 and Christian 22 or 23 so I will work on marriages in Scotland for them unless any more Aussie info shows up. |

Will have a look, think Thomas & David were in a different part of the ship - they are recorded together on another part of the manifest. |

There is an extensive tree on Ancestry, with photos and documentation. Catherine did go to Australia, she married Robert Lawrie and died there in 1894. Think the passenger I posted is the right one. |

Re - Catherine - Thanks Flip. I'll pencil that in as highly probable but i'm a wee bit curious as to why she waited. Maybe seeing how the rest got on! Also interesting she maried someone called Lawrie. Incidenatally it seems her mothers surname was Laurie. As is often the case it appears differently on some documents but the childrens middle names clinch it. |
