Looks like Christina & Catherine were on the same voyage, well spotted Gins, I missed Christina.

Added - I've just tried to look at the tree on Mundia, but can't - it says it is private. If you have the same problem, it is well worth taking the Ancestry 14 day free trial - there's loads of info and pictures, and the owner is an active member so you could contact her.

Ah..so Christian Junior was the first to go. I'd guess she might have been joining other Robb family members. We have several links in Oz. This might tie in with some of those. Cheers.

Re - Catherine - Thanks Flip. I'll pencil that in as highly probable but i'm a wee bit curious as to why she waited. Maybe seeing how the rest got on! Also interesting she maried someone called Lawrie. Incidenatally it seems her mothers surname was Laurie. As is often the case it appears differently on some documents but the childrens middle names clinch it.

Christina went to Australia, arriving 28/9/1854, married Jonathan Cason and she died in 1916 according the the tree (Lowe family tree) on Ancestry.

There is an extensive tree on Ancestry, with photos and documentation. Catherine did go to Australia, she married Robert Lawrie and died there in 1894. Think the passenger I posted is the right one.

Will have a look, think Thomas & David were in a different part of the ship - they are recorded together on another part of the manifest.

Thanks FLIP. At the date of departure the two remaining daughters Catharine would be 26 or 27 and Christian 22 or 23 so I will work on marriages in Scotland for them unless any more Aussie info shows up.

Malcolm

And well done Mel Fairy Godmother! That's a bonus. Thank you.

Traveling with them was also David, age 20 a farm labourer - they were presbyterian.

Malcolm

THAT'S THEM! Well done Christina...another record for the GR community 25 minutes from question to solution.

It has always interested me how Christian became Christine. It seems that Christian nowadays is exclusively a boys name. I had expected Australia as a destination as many Fife people and other members of the family went there.

I must get up to speed on emigration resources.

Very many thanks!
