pm from HLH

"You said that it is well documented on Ancestry page about Florence Rose Heard with photos etc. Does it give any intimation who posted the photos? We'd absolutely love to get some photos of any of the family. We don't have a single one. "

Have explained that I'd reply on here as the info may be useful to others -

If you're not a member of Ancestry you can still search and view their public trees, and contact tree owners, on Mundia, their sister site.
http://www.mundia.com/gb

It's completely free to register and use. Use the "Find People" on the menu and put in the name in question (e.g. Florence Rose Heard) then when the results come up click on "view tree".

The site can be a bit slow and glitchy sometimes, but it is free.

Aah, that's it. There had been confusion with Florence Violet's names being the 'other way round'. We had since found out that Violet H Heard married Frederick Florance - thus Violet Florance. So that mystery appears to be solved! Yipee!

Thanks all of you for your help. Marie/Celeste - we'd not picked up on the middle Christian names being flower names. Thank you for pointing that out.
:-)

MarieCeleste/Mike - thank you so much for all your delving for us. I had definitely got my wires crossed, it was Eli & Harriet who had 8 children (one being 'Florrie'. It looks like the Florence Rose is the right one.

Walter (one of Eli's sons) & his wife Ada (nee Williams) then had the 6 children, Ada, Ellen, Gladys, Walter, Sidney & Violet.

Someone else on here said it was recorded that a Florence Violet was living with Walter & Ada in 1956 at Macks Road, SE16, but was not shown there in 1960. Petrhaps she was another relative just staying there? Who knows.

The main thing that kicked us off with this is that we know for sure Walter's family lived in Janeway Street, and it appears Marigold Street before then.

Think we've probably solved the problem with the Florence Rose anyway. Many thanks
:-)

Wondering if this is your Florrie

Births Sep 1898
HERD Florence Caroline - St. Saviour 1d 170

Or maybe

Births Dec 1903
Heard Florence Rose - St. Olave 1d 221

(although this one wouldn't be 11yr old in 1911)

EDIT :

Having checked freebmd, it appears that all her siblings were registered in St. Olave so Florence Rose looks the more likely.
So she was actually only 7 at the time of the 1911 census.
Maybe seven was misheard (!) as eleven.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:56

Got no idea who the Florence is with Walter and Ada, it's not Eli and Harriet's daughter as she's now accounted for. Walter and Ada don't appear to have had a daughter by that name.

HLH - are you able to say what the event was in 1956 that has those three names together? We might then be able to delve further.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:51

This would be her death:

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
Name: Florence R Anderson
Birth Date: abt 1904
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1936
Age at Death: 32
Registration district: Bermondsey
Inferred County: London
Volume: 1d
Page: 109

There was a child born in 1926.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:46

According to a tree on Ancestry (well documented and with photos, etc) Florence Rose Heard was the daughter of Eli Heard and Harriett Wallbridge.

She married Edward Anderson (no date given) and died in 1936.

Looks like the 1925 marriage I found is the one.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:40

But there's this death which has an exact match to the birthdate:

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
Name: Florence Rose Angus
Birth Date: 28 Sep 1903
Date of Registration: Feb 1996
Age at Death: 92
Registration district: Colchester
Inferred County: Essex
Register Number: A66C
District and Subdistrict: 4691A
Entry number: 126

** Might not be, see below.

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:39

I guess any of these marriages could be hers:

Marriages Sep 1925

Heard Florence R Anderson St. Olave 1d 309

Marriages Dec 1930

Rice Vivian A Heard Maldon 4a 1718

Marriages Sep 1931
Baker Thomas G Heard Poplar 1c 918
Heard Florence R Baker Poplar 1c 918

EDIT: Looks like the first one's correct, see below.

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:30

The Heard girls call Florence seemed to get flowers as middle names:

London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906
Name: Florence Rose Heard
Record Type: Baptism
Estimated Birth Date: abt 1903 < States September 28th

Father's Name: Eli Heard < Labourer
Mother's Name: Harriet Heard
Parish or Poor Law Union: Bermondsey St Crispin

Address 5 Freda Street.

Age is a few years out to the 1911, but that's not too unusual.

MarieCeleste Report 16 Apr 2012 23:20

In 1911 Eli Heard had a daughter Florie (Florence) - looks like she may have been Walter's sister, not his daughter

I too am now confused.

According to 1901 cenuses Florence V was the daughter of Arthur and Frances not Eli and Harriet.

HLH

HLH Report 16 Apr 2012 22:31

Confusion on my part - sorry. 'Florrie' was in fact the daughter of Eli & Harriet Heard (Walter's parents). Born in 1898. I can't find any more reference to her, other than a Florence Violet Heard was living with Walter & Ada in Macks Road, London SE16 in 1956. No more record of her.

Not seeing anything obvious - have you found them on any census?

Where did you get the information?
