Find Ancestors

Hi everyone. Can anyone please help me with some possibilities for Walter Thacker, my grandfather? I am trying to fill in some details about his life.

He was born 10th May 1881 in Holborn, London and I can't find him on a census until 1911 in Chester living with his wife.

His mother died in 1888 and his father was living on his own in subsequent census. I didn't think that he might have been adopted so under a different surname. I thought I would ask here from someone more experienced.

I hardly think his mother would have died as recently as 1988, she would have been well past 100 by then

Oops. His mother died in 1888.

Parents were Thomas Thacker b 1844 Birmingham and Mary Jane Ashe b 1851 in Isle of man. Thomas is on his own on the 1891 census.

So this is Yorkshire. His uncle lived in Leeds. This could be him. There were dressmakers in the family so there could have been links there.

Uncle was Samuel Thacker b, ab 1839 living at 4 Morpeth Grove in 1901 Leeds (Brunswick Ward)

Do you have a Marriage for Thomas and Mary Jane?...

(although too late for 1881 census, but what was address on birth Cert.)

I haven't seen the newspaper articles. I am so excited. Anything to help with their story. I wish I had asked for help earlier - thank you.

Do they give any other details about their children? How do I access the information? Not sure what to do on the link you gave me. Do i apply to join the library?

I have Mary Jane and Thomas's marriage certificate and her death certificate. I knew their must be a newspaper report on the inquest but that would have been in London.
