I am trying to find Phillis Austwick b.1835 Nottingham in 1871she is living or married to a Thomas Iveson b.1834 Cudworth Barnsley.They are living Beehive Yard Wakefield with her two sons James Herbert Austwick 13 Henry Austwick 8 and daughter Sarah Ann Iveson .In 1881 they are living Prospect place Normanton James as left but there is another daughter a Clara Iveson.I believe Phillis died in 1888.Also trying to trace Sarah Ann Iveson after1891 at this time she is given as being a servant in Nomanton.Thank you

Thank you all for your help but i dont think these are the Phillis i am looking for.The Phillis Austwik i am searching for was B.Salop Nottinghamshire 1832/35.Both her sons James Herbert and Henry were also B.Salop Notts.Allotment sent the information that James Herbert was Baptised 19thAug 1855 Salop Notts.How they came to be inWakefield is a mystery.Andrew pointed me in the right direction when he found that Sarah Ann Iveson had married a James Grogan.I followed this up and have even emailed his grandson but he only knows about his grandfathers side.Back to the drawing board.Thank you all very much.If you get this twice i appologise

but I think we HAVE found the correct Phillis/Phyllis

1. Allotment posted that James Henry Austwick was baptised in Salop ..............I think that was a mistake for James Herbert

2. I posted that Sarah Austwick married Joseph Pollard in 1837 ...... which accounts for Phillis living with Sarah and Joseph Pollard in 1841

The 1841 does NOT show relationships between members of a household, so there is no indication of the connection between Sarah and/or Joseph ...................... but it is a very good bet that the Austwick children are stepchildren of Joseph's.

3. People moved for work .......... just as they do now.

4. There are not very many Phillis Austwick's on ancestry

5. Most of our ancestors were illiterate, and many did not know where they had been born, and could not correct it if the enumerator wrote it down wrongly.


Please do NOT be too quick and dismiss everything that has been found.

Thank you Sylvia I will take on board everything i have been sent.I think the fact that on all the census that i have seen it is always stated that Phillis James and Herbert are all born in Salop Notts.and this is whats confusing me.I will have a go at the Pollard route and see if anything turns up.Thank you all once again your help is very much appreciated.

I am looking for the parents and siblings of Hephzibah Lonsdale who married Henry Austwick in 1883 Wakefield .I believe her father could be a John Lonsdale.Thank you
